My dear Miss Jones, my own birthday has failed to surprise me since the age of two.

William E. Simms:

Sir Nigel Dee:

Adam Adamant:

Adam Adamant:

The Face:
[on monitor screen] Evil sets it's own boundaries, Adamant.

Jason Lang:
Who is this man Simms?

Adam Adamant:
My valet. He knows I haven't left because I haven't telephoned him about diner. He does know my habits very well.

William E. Simms:
I have an aversion to striking women. Present company excepted.

Georgina Jones:
Well, I haven't. Come on, Simms.

Sir Nigel Dee:
Only a few minutes ago, no less than six crimes were committed simultaneously in the city. This is war, Adamant. Out right war. But of course I can't possibly allow you to involve yourself in this.

Adam Adamant:
And I can't possibly allow myself to sit idly by. Good night.

Sir Nigel Dee:
Good night. I know it will be far from good for me.

William E. Simms:
[to Georgie] William E. Simms at your service, you 'orrible little wretch. [she laughs]

Adam Adamant:
[addressing The Face] Will you ever have the courage to meet me face to face?

Adam Adamant:

Margo Kane:
You know... [clears throat]... when I have to get up this early in the morning, it upsets my nerves. I'm inclined to forget my manners. See? However, you remember yours and we shall be quite all right.

Adam Adamant:

Georgina Jones:
Please have some breakfast.

Adam Adamant:
Very well then, if you insist. But really, nothing of any concequence, just a little kedgeree, a few Devilled kidneys, no more.

Georgina Jones:

Adam Adamant:

Adam Adamant:
You have my word. There is no greater crime than to strike down the weak and defenceless.

Vargos:
Only fools believe in coincidence, Calvert.

Adam Adamant:
[Adamant has asked Georgie for a dance, but swiftly changes his mind] Miss Jones, I wish to talk, not dislocate my vertebrae.

Helen:
You know that new girl, the one that's hanging around Achmed?

Vargos:
Yes?

Helen:
She is also hanging around Adam Adamant. Walked in as though she paid the rent.

Vargos:
When she comes in to work this afternoon, take her below.

Helen:
To the guest room?

Vargos:
Yes. See that she is made comfortable. Then kill her.

Helen:
[aiming a small pistol at Adam] For an adventurer, Adam you're really very naive.

Ahmed:
Kill my father and I'll hunt you down if it takes the rest of my life.

Vargos:
You forget, Achmed, that I control the rest of your life. Cooperate or die.

Dr. Ryan:
[on phone] The Minister must be warned immediately!

Petherbridge:
[on other line] Look, now don't you worry, old chap, just leave everything to me, would you? Goodbye. Thank you for calling. [hangs up] Oh, Miss Wilkins, make a note, would you, to remind me first thing in the morning: haircut.

Sinoda:

Adam Adamant:
Shall we say that I don't make it a fetish?

Sinoda:
Beauty is not a fetish, it is the sublime truth.

Adam Adamant:
It is also only in the eye of the beholder.

Sinoda:
That is a feeble excuse to justify ugliness.

Adam Adamant:

Adam Adamant:

Paula Carter:

Sir Henry:
[Adamant has been presented with several photographs featuring himself] Do you remember that year and where the photographs were taken?

Adam Adamant:

Sir George:
[laughs] You can't be that certain. I mean, it's sixty years ago!

Adam Adamant:

William E. Simms:

Georgina Jones:

Adam Adamant:

Georgina Jones:

Adam Adamant:

Georgina Jones:

Sir Henry:
Trouble, Adamant?

Adam Adamant:
In my day, Sir Henry, young ladies did as they were told. [leaves]

Sir Henry:
At his age, he really ought to know better.

Adam Adamant:
Gentlemen, I rely on you to be surprised by nothing that happens in this house, today.

Georgina Jones:
There's a man here, I saw him. In a mask.

Adam Adamant:
His voice?

Georgina Jones:
Horrible. Like a saw blade.

Adam Adamant:
The Face. The fiend still lives. Stay close, Miss Jones, there is evil in this house.

Grand Duchess Vorokhov:

Adam Adamant:
The only thing he will never abandon, madam, is his evil purpose.

William E. Simms:
Being expressly forbidden, sir, is something Miss Jones does not understand.

Sgt. Major Jeffers:
If you don't smarten yourself up a bit I'll have your big ears for bookends!

Adam Adamant:
That was very careless of you, Corporal. You ruined a very serviceable cap.

Adam Adamant:
Oh, by the way, I should put a guard on this body if I were you. You never know, it might strangle itself.

Col. Mannering:
[to Adamant] I just realized it: you've obviously gone senile. But then at your age that's hardly surprising.

Adam Adamant:
Oh, by the way, this young lady has absolutely no right to enter this camp. Would you kindly keep her at the gate?

Georgina Jones:
Of all the!

Sgt. Major Jeffers:
[to Mannering] The time for talking is over.

Adam Adamant:
[standing in the door opening] Not quite, sir.

Sgt. Major Jeffers:

Adam Adamant:
Through the door. Your rear guard wasn't very alert, I'm afraid, I, I could have killed you all.

Gen. Mongerson:
Yes, I'm afraid it's trouble in the trenches, Adamant.

Adam Adamant:
Yes, well, whatever it's purpose, the motives were obviously evil and seem to involve the fair city of Blackpool...

Adam Adamant:

William E. Simms:

Adam Adamant:

Adam Adamant:
Simms! [aims his fencing sword at him]

William E. Simms:

William E. Simms:

Adam Adamant:
There is no excuse. Defend yourself. [Simms is forced to uses his feather duster to defend himself]

Sandra Webb:
[leaving the dancefloor as a high tempo song begins] Have you learned to 'shake' yet?

Adam Adamant:
Only with amusement, madam.

Adam Adamant:
[adressing Pamela] I cannot be bought, madam.

Charles Fellows:
We all have our price, Adamant. Twenty per cent of a million.

Charles Fellows:
Not for a hundred per cent of twenty million.

Georgina Jones:
Why did you draw a Christmas tree on this?

Adam Adamant:
It's a pine tree, miss Jones.

Georgina Jones:

I was made a planning. I'm expecting to meet someone.

Georgina Jones:

Adam Adamant:

Georgina Jones:
[Adam leaves without Georgie, as usual] Hey! Mr. Adamant!

Georgina Jones:
Leave me alone, I don't care anyway.

Adam Adamant:
Well, I can only suggest that you should, Miss Jones.

Georgina Jones:
I can't remember anything! You of all people ought to know what that's like.

Kinkead:
I want to talk to you about this afternoon.

Georgina Jones:
It didn't exist. I'm not even going to put it in my diary.

Melville:
I wonder if I could impose to the extend of the name of your tailor?

Adam Adamant:
I'll have him send you his cards...

Melville:
Well, you've made me feel an absolute rag. I could kill you out of sheer spite.

Felina:
At least let me try convince you.

Adam Adamant:
I am already convinced, Madam, these men are evil and they must die.

Melville:
Don't be so possessive. It's tedious and uncivilized. Admitedly, it's probably one up on the hydrogen bomb, but there's no need to gloat. Learn to be modest, Hubert, like me.

Hinchcombe:
What crime is the most difficult to detect?

Adam Adamant:
That which appears motiveless?

William E. Simms:
[about Dr. Mort] In the trades, speaking broadly, of course, he's known as the Sarah Bernhardt of religion. No matter how busy, he can always find time to send out a cheery word of doom and destruction.

Adam Adamant:
Imagine, Simms, if this great metropolis were given just one our to live, How would we react?

William E. Simms:
Well, let me put it this way, sir: I wouldn't care to take a car onto the North Circular Road.

Dr. Mort:
That young man is becoming increasingly irritating.

Streek:

Dr. Mort:

Dr. Mort:

Georgina Jones:
But surely he can't throw the entire city into a panic?

He doesn't have to, Miss Jones. Panic is a disease. Two or three will break and the rest will follow.

William E. Simms:
Perhaps Miss Jones has the answer, sir.

Adam Adamant:
Perhaps she has, Simms, but where is she?

William E. Simms:
Oh, she's probably galavanting about with some beatniks. Throwing weighing machines into the English Channel, I should wonder.

Minister:
[speaking into a microphone attached to a recorder] One, two, buckle my shoe...

Adam Adamant:
[off screen] I beg your pardon?

Minister:
Three, four, knock at the door... [blows gently into the microphone] Five...

Adam Adamant:
What exactly are you doing, Minister?

Minister:
I am trying to record our conversation.

Adam Adamant:
For posterity?

Minister:
No, for the typing pool.

Esta Canfield:

Adam Adamant:

Adam Adamant:

Randolph:
Have we ever had any complaint, from anyone? Even a widow?

Hope:
No, but someone may suddenly be suspicious if there are suddenly too many widows in the province.

Faith:
Like Mr. Adamant.

Randolph:
Mr. Adamant is something of an exception. And if anyone else should become suspicious, well, then we could always invite their wives to become... full members, couldn't we?

Charity:
I'm sorry, Randolph. It's so easy for a woman to weaken now and then.

Randolph:

Georgina Jones:

Georgina Jones:
Celebrate?

Adam Adamant:
Yes. Our return from the dead.

Ernest Wilson:
[Adamant & Wilson are fencing] You fight... in the exact style of my great grandfather!

Adam Adamant:
I ought to... he tought me!

Jerry Fletcher:
Are you really a hundred?

Adam Adamant:
Well, I soon shall be.

Jerry Fletcher:
You look better than my granddad. And he's only 82. [Adamant laughs]

Jerry Fletcher:
[referring to Georgina] This your bird?

Georgina Jones:
[laughs] Oh, charming!

Adam Adamant:
Yes, well, Miss Jones are merely friends.

Jerry Fletcher:
I've heard that one before.

Adam Adamant:
The dead mouse has always been the harbinger of death.

Adam Adamant:
This is no ordinary villain that we are up against.

William E. Simms:
But why, sir? What's the motive?

Adam Adamant:
No motive, Simms. This is evil for evil's sake. Unless I'm very much mistaken, we're about to cross swords with the devil himself.

Adam Adamant:
[Georgie lies down on Adam's bed in his hotel room] My dear Miss Jones, would you leave immediately?

Georgina Jones:
Why?

Adam Adamant:
Have you no sense of propriety?

Georgina Jones:
Propriety's as square as laced-up corsets.

Adam Adamant:
Oh, my dear Miss Jones, I do wish you'd choose your similies with a bit more caution.

Dr. Craigshaw:
It is useless to struggle, Mr. Adamant. You won't escape.

Adam Adamant:
Nor will you escape, sir. For you are a prisoner of your own evil practices.

Myra Bamford:
How can you call the search for pleasure 'evil'?

Adam Adamant:
How can you call these obscene rites 'pleasure', madam?

Myra Bamford:
Is he to be sacrificed, Doctor?

Dr. Craigshaw:
I think not, my dear. Mr. Adamant is a very ingenious man. And deserves an equally ingenious death.

Howarth:
But you've heard the tape, it was Adam Adamant in there!

Roger Clair:
So who is Adamant? Some mystic? Some incredible genius who can sniff the air and sense our transmitters? The man's a Victorian romantic, my friend. He couldn't even mend a fuse.

Roger Clair:
[Janine won't go on stage during a swimwear presentation] My dear, I don't care if Lucifer himself is here, the show must go on!

Howarth:
[listening to their planted transmitter as Adamant returns home] That'll be the garage he lives in.

Roger Clair:
[quite appalled] Garage? He lives in a garage?

Howarth:
He has a house on the roof.

Roger Clair:
[suddenly exited by the concept] Oh, what a ducky Idea! Now why didn't I think of it?

Howarth:
[smiles] You will, Roger...

Roger Clair:
[not amused] I'm in no mood for your sarcasm, Philip!

Roger Clair:
Oh, now, Mr. Adamant, do be good. The sight of blood puts me on tranquillizers for weeks.

Adam Adamant:
I have no intention of submitting, Sir.

Roger Clair:
Dear, it's going to be one of those days.

Adam Adamant:
[Adam awakes, having been knocked out] What happened?

Georgina Jones:
You look awful!

Adam Adamant:
[rather offended] Well, you look a little untidy yourself, Miss Jones. I - I trust you were not responsible for this?

Georgina Jones:
Me? It was your dark-eyed ladyfriend who did that.

Adam Adamant:
My dear Miss Jones, I have no dark-eyed ladyfriends capable of delivering such a telling blow.
