Best Men

These five music videos by Boyz II Men capture everything good about the group (the gospel roots and secular appeal, the discipline and earnestness) and everything bad (the passion spilled over into goo). "I'll Make Love to You" becomes a soundtrack for a little story about a security expert's desire for a lonely client. It's a neat idea, but finally overwhelmed by the Boyz' pleading tone. The fun "One Sweet Day" finds the guys hanging around a studio with a leggy Mariah Carey, recording a tune about loss and love between goofing off. "On Bended Knee" balances the pain of a domestic fight with graceful harmonies, while "Water Runs Dry" features the group singing against the exotic backdrop of a desert. The forgettable "End of the Road" gets no help from visual settings at a train station and in an alley. --Tom Keogh
