Dan and Edna

[Dan enters the cave, wearing a sombrero. He picks up the telephone and dials. Meanwhile, Edna is showing Grumpy a hen made of carton. Grumpy, as always, is in grumpy mood. Edna practices the use of "this is" and "that is"]

Edna:
[points at the hen] This... this is a hen.

[Edna moves the hen away from Grumpy]

Edna:
[points at the hen] That... that's a hen. Alright?

Grumpy:
No!

Edna:
[sighs] Where's Dan?

[Grumpy snickers. The telephone rings. Edna picks it up and puts it near Grumpy. Grumpy makes rude noise at the telephone. Edna picks the receiver]

Edna:
[chuckling] Grumpy, stop it!

Grumpy:
What's this?

Edna:
It's a telephone.

Grumpy:
A telephone?

Edna:
Yes.

[Edna answers the telephone]

Edna:
Hello?

[Dan and Edna sing the telephone song]

Dan:
Hello Edna!

Edna:
Hello Dan! How are you?

Dan:
I'm fine. How are you?

Edna:
I'm fine. Dan, where are you? What? Oooo! Wait for me, OK? Bye!

[Edna replaces the receiver]

Edna:
Bye, Grumpy!

[Edna leaves]

Koko:
Hello everyone! My name is Koko. I am a dog. Whoops! Shhhh...

Dan:
Hi Koko!

Koko:
Hi Dan!

[Koko points at a picture of Mr. Dean the teacher]

Koko:
Hey, who's that?

Dan:
It's Mr. Dean.

Koko:
Right! Mr. Dean. He's a teacher.

[Koko whispers something in Dan's ear]

Dan:
OK.

Koko:
Mr. Dean!

Dan, Koko:
[sing] This is Mr. Dean. He's a man. He's a teacher. This is Mr. Dean. He's a man. Yes, he's a man. This is Mr. Dean. He's a man. He's a teacher. Hi there, Mr. Dean! A teacher, a man.

Dan:
Bye Koko!

[Dan and Koko wave each other goodbye. Dan leaves]

[Edna is holding some letters. She starts putting them in a mailbox, when Koko calls her]

Koko:
Edna! Edna!

Edna:
Yes?

Koko:
Come here a minute.

Edna:
OK.

[Edna places the letters she did not mail yet in her bag and goes to see Koko. As she comes, Koko enters the doghouse. Edna looks around for him]

Edna:
Koko! Koko!

[Koko emerges from the doghouse, chuckling]

Edna:
Hi!

Koko:
Hi!

[Koko points at a picture of Mr. Flynn the postman]

Koko:
Who's that?

Edna:
It's Mr. Flynn. He's a postman.

Koko:
Aha, he's a postman.

Edna, Koko:
[sing] This is Mr. Flynn. He's a man. He's a postman. This is Mr. Flynn. He's a man. Yes, he's a man. This is Mr. Flynn. He's a man. He's a postman. Hi there, Mr. Flynn! A postman, a man.

Edna:
Bye Koko!

Koko:
Bye!

[Edna and Koko wave each other goodbye. Edna leaves]

[Edna returns to the mailbox. As she is about to put the letter inside it, Grumpy suddenly appears. He is in his usual grumpy mood, as his name implies]

Grumpy:
[snarls] What's that?

Edna:
It's a letter.

Grumpy:
A letter?

[Edna nods. She holds the letter close to Grumpy so he can read the writing on the envelope]

Grumpy:
[reads aloud the addressee's name] Hmmm... Mr. Jones, a farmer.

[Grumpy snatches the envelope from Edna]

Edna:
Hey!

[Edna takes the envelope back. The window closes and opens, and Grumpy reappears. Edna smiles, puts the letter in the mailbox and leaves. Grumpy grumbles. The window closes. Mrs. Green and Irving, who were watching this scene, laugh]

[Mrs. Green, Irving, Dan and Edna are watching a clip of Mr. Jones the farmer tending to cows]

Dan, Edna:
