Dervish Halil:
On the day I die, when I'm being carried toward the grave / Do not suppose that leaving this world troubles me Do not weep for me Say not 'Alas, alas!' / You will fall into the devil's snare that would indeed be alas! / When I am buried do not speak of separation at my funeral. / It is my moment of union. / It is when I come upon the eternal embrace of my Beloved. / As I am lowered into the ground / Do not say, Farewell, farewell. / The grave is only a curtain for the splendor of Paradise. / Have you not seen it set? Now watch it rise. / What harm ever came to the setting Sun or Moon? / Which seed fell in the earth that did not grow there? / Do you doubt the fate of human seed? / Do you not think that I am under ground? / These seven heavens are under my feet!

I am the voice of the Ney. I am the soul of man. I am the spark in flint. I am the gold vein in the mine. I am the rose and I am the nightingale in love with the rose. I am the physician and the patient, the poison and the antidote I am sweetness and bitterness, honey and oleander. I am the city and the guard, the siege and the wall. I am the chain of all existence the circle of the universe. I am the stage of creation.
