Rosso:
Slashed, strangled and slaughtered. Beaten, stabbed and crushed. Gutted and impaled, shot and executed without mercy. Nicely said, Weiss. I wonder if this will be more amusing than last time...

Vincent Valentine:
Yuffie... what are you doing here?

Yuffie Kisaragi:
Me? I'm just helping out Reeve & his gang. I was poking around Niebleheim, & I found you looking all corpse-like in Shinra Manor. [brightly] So, I saved you! [pause] Imagine that: me saving the great [spins in place] Vincent Valentine! Do I get any thanks? [laughs]

Vincent Valentine:
[chuckles, but completely serious] Thanks, Yuffie.

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[pause; looking & sounding uncomfortable] No, no, whoa. I didn't mean for you to take me so seriously. Anyway, Reeve wanted us to contact him as soon as you woke up.

Reeve Tuesti:
I have good news. Using you-know-who, I was able to infiltrate Midgar. However, what I saw wasn't the prettiest of pictures.

Cait Sith:
Number-5 is alive!

Vincent Valentine:
[narrating] All I did was watch. I didn't even try to stop her. And then... [show Lucrecia walking, when suddenly she collapses, as we see flashes of Jenova &, as she holds her stomach in pain, Sephiroth] That was my sin. And this... this... is my punishment. [we see, through his eyes, his 'waking' to realize he's transformed into the creature know as Chaos, the first time it happens; after the initial shock, he screams in horror at what he's become]

Vincent Valentine:
But I never blamed her. All I wanted was to see her smiling face. But that day, the light left her heart.

Vincent Valentine:
[on the phone] Cid's airship?

Cloud Strife:
We lost contact about 15 minutes ago. I don't think we have to worry, though. [sword clanging in the background] Those two should be fine. [more sword clanging]

Vincent Valentine:
Yeah. And what about you?

Cloud Strife:
[half laughs] What do you think?

Tifa Lockhart:
[brief pause] Right! You can count on us!

Barret Wallace:
[once again loud enough for Vincent to have to hold the phone away from his ear] When I'm through, there won't be s single sucka standing!

Vincent Valentine:
[smiles briefly] Right.

Cloud Strife:
And as for you?...

Vincent Valentine:
Don't worry. Leave Deepground to me.

Cloud Strife:
[sounds like he's smiling] Can you hold on a second? Tifa.

Tifa Lockhart:
Got it! [beat] Vincent, I'm sending you a map of the Shinra Building. [we see a map layout of the floor he's on] Deepground is below the complex. Take an elevator as far down as you can. Good lu...

Barret Wallace:
[shouting] Give 'em hell, Vincent!

Tifa Lockhart:
Barret, I thought I told you to...

Cloud Strife:
Don't go getting yourself killed, now. [they hang up; so does Vincent, walks to the elevator]

[Vincent tries to call Shelke, but can't reach her; almost instantly after he hangs up his phone rings; a little puzzled, but he answers; sounds of 'battle' in the background]

Tifa Lockhart:
Hey, I got through!

Vincent Valentine:
Tifa?

Barret Wallace:
What? You got though? [speaking so loud Vincent has to hold the phone far from his ear] Yo-ho-ho! Vincent! You still alive?

Tifa Lockhart:
Oh course he is, we're talking to him, aren't we? And do you really have to shout right next to my ear?

Barret Wallace:
[laughs, Vincent flinches away from the phone again] Sorry 'bout that, Tifa...

Tifa Lockhart:
I apologize, Vincent. Here's Cloud.

[brief pause as she passes the phone to Cloud]

Cloud Strife:
Vincent?

Vincent Valentine:
[slight pause] Cloud. It's been a while.

[Shelke has taken a defensive position]

Nero:
And what do we think we are doing?

Shelke Rui:
I... I don't really know. However, since coming here I have realized one thing. I don't want to let down anyone who's counting on me.

Nero:
[long pause] Pure nonsense.

Shelke Rui:
Nonsense?... Perhaps. [power's her weapons up & fights him]

Rosso:
Aah. Still alive, I see. And you call your self human?

Vincent Valentine:
More human than you.

Rosso:
[smiles] More human than I? [laughs] Tell me something I don't already know, darling. I'm a Tsviet! I traded in my human weaknesses for power long ago. It is the path I've chosen. And the path I'll tread. Until I've sucked all life from this pitiful world! [brief pause] And I'm not going to let you get in the way. You've lived long enough, Vincent Valentine. And I'll make sure you don't come back this time... by slicing you into pieces!

[over loudspeaker; as WRO soldiers, & Yuffie, get ready]

Cid Highwind:
Listen up, cause I'm only gonna say this once. If any more of you are killed by those punks, I'll drag you back from Hell & kill you again! You really wanna piss off those S-O-Bs, then why not try staying alive! [brief pause] That's what this war's all about! If you live, everybody behind you lives. If you die, they die! You got that? Now go kick some Deepground-ass!

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[along with the other guys in the hanger] Yeah!

[to Vincent, about Reeve]

Cid Highwind:
When the hell did he become so important? All this you see around you-everything here-he put up the gil for it. 'Course that's on the condition that I help him save the world. [laughs]

Shalua Rui:
[has a hold of Shelke's hand, trying to get through the door] Come on.

Shelke Rui:
[tugging her arm] Let go of me!

Shalua Rui:
I don't think so. [Shelke looks a litte surprised] We have 10 years to catch up on. I'm not gonna let this end here...

[suddenly the 'blast' doors start to close; Vincent runs towards them]

Vincent Valentine:
Shalua!

[Shalua barely manages to get her false arm between them, propping them open; she & Vincent try to pry the doors open; she groans]

Shelke Rui:
Why are you doing this?

Shalua Rui:
[pause] You can still get through.

Shelke Rui:
Huh?

Shalua Rui:
Go on. [pushes Shelke through; holding door as if to try & keep it open longer] Shelke... [voice gets quieter with each sentence] I'm sorry... I'm sorry I wasn't a better sister. [false arm starts to break under the pressure, doors slowly closing] I'm sorry I let you suffer... for so long. Vincent... take care of her, will you?

Vincent Valentine:
[still trying to pry the doors open; voice strained from the effort] Wait!

Shalua Rui:
Shelke... I'm glad I was able to find you. And remember [almost a whisper] I'll always... love you. [arm finally crushed as the doors close; Vincent pounds his fists once againts the door in frustration]

Shelke Rui:
[taken aback; voice almost neutral] Why?... [loud bang from the other side of the doors, which shake with the force; fluid seeps under the doors] Why did she... Why?... Shalua...

[another bang against the doors, & Vincent grabs Shelke's arm, taking off down the corridor]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
I don't know what's going down, but it sounds big. I've been waiting a long time to get my hands on those Deepground punks. They've had their way long enough. Now it's time to give them a taste of pain a-la-Yuffie. [mimes boxing] Just give me 3 minutes with those guys. No, make it 2. Well maybe 3... or 4- Well it really depends on how many there are. But I think if there was 5 I could probably take them in 2- or 2 in 5, or 3 in 4...

[Vincent wakes up lying on a bench; looks at the person sitting on the other bench, wearing a robe so you can't tell who it is]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[waves] Morning.

Vincent Valentine:
Where... Who are you?

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[stands up] Well, I'm glad you asked. [standing in a 'heroic' pose] I am the champion of the earth and the sky. I am the conqueror of evil. The single white rose of Wutai. [pulls off her robe in one swift move, & he can now see it's-] Yuffie Kisaragi! [jumps onto the bench] Feast your eyes on- [loses her balance & falls backwards, knocking her head against a computer console] Ooowww! Ow! [continues to groan in pain]

Vincent Valentine:
[completely nonchalant] So, where are we?

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[slightly frustrated] Come on! Aren't you at least a little concerned?

Vincent Valentine:
[voice still neutral] Oh, Yuffie. It's been a while... How's you head?

Yuffie Kisaragi:
You- [sighs; now aggrivated] Could you at least *pretend* to be sympathetic?

[Vincent starts to sit up; stops, clutching his chest, groans in pain]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[leaps up; concerned] Aaahh! Hey! Take it easy. That was a big hole you had in your chest.

Vincent Valentine:
[sounds confused] A hole in my chest?

Yuffie Kisaragi:
Um-hm. [say following lines while semi-dancing around, spins a couple of times] I seriously thought you were a goner, but then the wound healed itself right up. [half to herself] You were always "different"; but [finishes brightly] I guess that's why you're still breathing.

[Vincent entered the room where Yuffie is sitting on a computer desk and glancing at Shalua's lifeless body in a container]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[unhappy] They... they say she won't wake up. She suffered too much trauma to her head. Unless there's some kind of a miracle, she... she's not...

[pause]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[angry] Vincent! You were there! Why couldn't you save her?

Vincent Valentine:
I'm sorry.

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[anger deflates completely] Uhh. No. [beat] I didn't mean to...

[Shelke appeared at the scene]

Shelke Rui:
[glancing at Shalua] She was a fool.

[Yuffie angrily gets up and slaps Shelke, though Shelke doesn't react to her face getting slapped]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
[upset] You have no right to call her that!

[about to cry]

Yuffie Kisaragi:
You don't know...! You don't know what...!

[Vincent backs Yuffie away from Shelke]

Shelke Rui:
Why...? Why would she do something so...?

[extremely upset and almost about to cry, Yuffie walks away from the scene]

Vincent Valentine:
Before, when I asked Shalua what she was searching for, she answered "her reason to live." [beat] It was you, Shelke... *You* were her reason to live.

Shelke Rui:
So? I don't understand... how someone could give her own life for that of another. Do you understand, Vincent Valentine?

Vincent Valentine:
Hm. I can't answer for your sister. But...

Shelke Rui:
But?

Vincent Valentine:
When a person has someone they care about that much, giving their life is sometimes the least they can do. And maybe that's what makes us human.

Shelke Rui:
Someone they care about...

Vincent Valentine:
Although, it seems like there are a lot of people around me who don't need a reason to risk their lives for that of another.

Shelke Rui:
And are you...

[Shelke stumbles, almost falls to the floor; Vincent catches her and holds her shoulders]
