Don't Look Down

Wes Craven's name is prominently displayed on the promotional material for Don't Look Down, but the veteran horror filmmaker did little beyond executive-produce and lend his marquee value to this 1998 made-for-TV thriller. It's too bad, because Craven might've made something from this bland creepshow; in its current form, it's competently made but completely forgettable. Megan Ward stars as Carla, who is left with a crippling fear of heights after her sister falls to her death from a cliff. To combat her phobia, she joins a controversial support group, but soon after, members of the group begin dying in mysterious falls. Carla believes that she might be the next victim and suspects that the killer is her sister, returned from the grave to avenge her death. Decent performances and direction can't overcome a surfeit of red herrings and false scares, and Don't Look Down is best reserved for non-discerning suspense/supernatural fans.
