Kate:
How's the rest of the family. Anyone else in the hospital?

Bertrum:
Not the ones who deserve it most.

Kate:
Have you ever shot a horse before?

Uncle Dane:

Kate:
She could be getting raped!

Rita:

Jilly:

Kate:
[holding gun] I just came to shoot a horse.

Jilly:
[smile quickly fades]

Uncle Dane:
[drunk] We were born here. This is where we were born and raised, Bertrum.

Bertrum:
You don't have to tell me where I was born and raised. I know damn well where I was born and raised!

Uncle Dane:
[slurring] I was just sayin', that's the reason we're here.

Bertrum:
What's the reason!

Uncle Dane:
The reason we never left... Is cuz we were born here... [takes another swig]

Bertrum:
You are a piss poor excuse for a relative, you know that? [swipes his bottle]

Gramma:
[forgetful] Where's my Katie? Is my Katie here? She wouldn't allow all this to happen to me. She wouldn't allow it.

Amy:
She's at the hospital, mama. With dad.

Gramma:
She's not injured, is she?

Amy:
No, mama. Dad's injured.

Gramma:
Oh, he was *born* injured.

Amy:
I wouldn't worry too much about it, dear. Jilly knows the woods.

Rita:
Not like she used to. She's a teenager now, she doesn't know anything like she used to. She gets lost in her own bedroom now.

Uncle Dane:
You ever thought about what you're gonna do after you shoot your one and only horse, Bertrum? Huh? Who's gonna pull your buckboard then?
