Fishing with John

Narrator:
[as Tom Waits puts a fish in his pants to "feel better"] Oh, my God.

Jim Jarmusch:
Maybe somebody else should drive.

John Lurie:
There's nobody here but you and me.

Jim Jarmusch:
I'll drive.

John Lurie:
You want to drive?

Jim Jarmusch:
No.

Jim Jarmusch:
So what are the great fish movies?

Jim Jarmusch, John Lurie:
Jaws.

Narrator:
The fishermen wake up excited to be alive. They hope for good weather and good luck. Both fisherman are covered with sores and boners.

Narrator:
As always, night turns into day.

Narrator:
Out of politeness, and for old time's sake, John and Dennis pretend to hear one another, but the roar of the engine makes communication all but impossible.

Narrator:
How deep is the ocean? Nobody really knows for sure.

Narrator:
The shark reigns over his underworld kingdom. It is highest in the ocean food chain. He has no predator - except man.

Narrator:
The shark has made fatal attacks on humans in every ocean in the world. There are twenty-seven man-eating species of sharks. When it comes to the shark, man is on his menu. It's a wonderful world we live in.

Narrator:
Every fisherman has his story. The amazing thing about Jim's story is that the dolphins knew that the woman wasn't aware that she had cancer.

Narrator:
The situation is growing serious. John and Willem have consumed only melted snow since their supply of cheese crackers ran out two days ago.

Willem Dafoe:
Any guy that can drive himself to the hospital using his mouth can probably get it together to grab a couple of arms, wrap 'em up in some newspaper, and put 'em in the backseat.

Narrator:
These are real men doing real things.

Narrator:
They refuse to give up. However, they pay the price of their persistence by enduring nights of delirium.

Narrator:
On January 19th, John Lurie and Willem Dafoe died of starvation.
