Ben Travis:
Why, he's been pickin' away at us like this for a couple of weeks now.

Col. Casey Thompson:
Huh. Tony said he ain't taken enough grub to hardly keep a man alive. You wouldn't put him in irons for that would ya?

Ben Travis:
You wouldn't, huh?

Col. Casey Thompson:
Unh-uh.

Ben Travis:
What happens when he gets hungry again?

Col. Casey Thompson:
Hey, maybe he's found some taste in that grub of ours that's escaped the rest of us!

Ben Travis:
All right, if you want a job, there's plenty of work here for you. The pay's ten dollars a month.

Cato Richards:
Ten dollars...

Ben Travis:
Mister, that's good pay out here.

Cato Richards:
What did you call me?

Ben Travis:
What do you mean?

Cato Richards:
You called me "Mister"!

Ben Travis:
Is there anything wrong with that?

Cato Richards:
No... No. It's just that ain't nobody ever called me "Mister" before.

Col. Casey Thompson:
You know the old sayin': "It takes a heap of people to make a heap of people."

[a band of hostile Comanches suddenly appears on the road in front of Tony and Cato]

Cato Richards:
We don't want to do anything to aggravate 'em.

Tony Gentry:
Aggravate 'em? They don't look like they need aggravatin'!

Cato Richards:
You want to get out of this alive, don't you?

Tony Gentry:
I don't want to get out of it any other way!

Cato Richards:
I think I still know a little how to talk to 'em... I think.

Tony Gentry:
They're liable to kill you before you even get close.

Cato Richards:
But they'll kill us both if I don't. Now you stay right where you are. Chances are they ain't seen you yet.

Tony Gentry:
Let me give you this rifle...

Cato Richards:
No no no! You keep that - just in case I get tongue-tied.

Cato Richards:
He said he had military orders to burn down every plantation regardless of how much misery it caused everybody.

Tony Gentry:
Cato, to a man who enjoys - I mean really enjoys killin' and destroyin', that's the best alibi in the whole world: "Just followin' orders."

Tony Gentry:
You mean to say you're going to kill a man in cold blood for what he done in the war?

Cato Richards:
Ain't goin' to be nothin' cold about my blood when I kill him.

Uriah Foster:
I never harmed a soul. I never did anything except - except in the strictest line of duty.

Tony Gentry:
Captain, the war for me has been over for a long, long time. I don't care what you did - I don't want to know. I know I sure wouldn't want to have your memories, though. But if you don't get out of this house this minute, there's a man out there goin' to come for you with every intention of spillin' those memories all over this floor.

Tony Gentry:
It looks to me like you're so anxious to be buried, you're not even goin' to wait until you're dead.

Toby Mills:
Mister, I want to thank you.

Ben Travis:
You got two good feet. You might try standin' on 'em.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
You don't have to put up with it. You know that.

Millie Carno:
I know it. I guess there are lots of things I could do about Jake. Being married to him, I can't think of but two. I could leave him...

Colonel Casey Thompson:
Mm-hmm.

Millie Carno:
...or I could kill him.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
Better stay away from that Carno, Jaybo. He gets as mean as that lion of his sometimes.

Jaybo:
Caaey, you know I love everybody. Where that man is concerned, I'd love to hang him.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
It ain't what a man says, Travis, it's what a man does.

Ben Travis:
I still got a feeling we're gonna to have trouble, though.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
You can't always tell about the smell of trouble, Ben. It has the tendency of blowin' over sometimes.

Jacob Carno:
This is your last chance to run, Toby. Go on - run!

Toby Mills:
You don't seem to understand, Carno. I'm only afraid of animals. I'm not afraid of you.

Jacob Carno:
Well then, I'll teach you the other kind of fear.

Jacob Carno:
You're my wife. You'll do as I say!

Ben Travis:
Sounds like she'll do as she wants.

[last lines]

Ben Travis:
Do you think Carno will give it up?

Colonel Casey Thompson:
'Course he will. After taking a beatin' like that, he's through. He's not like Toby.

Ben Travis:
I hope you're right... about Toby, I mean.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
Of course I'm right. You give a man like Toby a good enough reason, he'll work miracles for you. Hey! That's a trait you ought to try accepting for yourself, Travis.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
I know all about women. I can handle women. That's why I'm a bachelor.

Karina:
I wish I had met you a long time ago.

Ben Travis:
I hope we meet again.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
Well, we all saw her different - an angel, a sinner, a child. Which of us was right?

Madame Sonya:
Each of you. We are all angels, all sinners, all children, depending on who's looking at us.

[Casey meets Will outside of the territorial prison]

Col. Casey Thompson:
Why don't you climb up?

Will Grady:
Well, that's very kind of you, sir. I must repay your kindness with honesty. I think it only fair to warn you the character of the man you have invited to share your conveyance.

Col. Casey Thompson:
I'm willin' to take my chances. Come on. There ya go.

Will Grady:
Up until a few moments ago, I was an inmate of yonder prison. Fifteen years, sir. Most of it spent under the lashes of the guards and in solitary confinement in a cell two feet by two feet with the souls of the many men I've killed as my only companions.

Col. Casey Thompson:
Must have been awful crowded in there with all those dead people.

[Tony and Ben are searching for Grady's former cellmates who they believe committed a murder for which Grady has been arrested]

Warden Martine:
In fact, I'd welcome Old Man Grady back. I haven't had a good potpie since he stopped growin' those vegetables.

Tony Gentry:
Warden, we gotta find them other two or that old man will be growin' nothin' but daisies.

Roy Clatter:
What do you guys want?

Ben Travis:
You, Clatter. You and Gard.

Jake Gard:
There ain't no reward out for us!

Tony Gentry:
Oh, that's all in the way you look at it. Seems to me there's no greater reward in this life than helpin' a friend in need.

Ben Travis:
Will Grady's in trouble. You put him there.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
What you got that grin on your face about?

Tony Gentry:
Colonel, you know how Ben's been ridin' me about how my job with the show's so easy?

Colonel Casey Thompson:
Yeah.

Tony Gentry:
Well, he's going to find out real quick that bein' an advance man's no picnic.

Colonel Casey Thompson:
You ain't sent him ridin' into some kind of hornet's nest, have you?

Tony Gentry:
Well, I wouldn't say it's a nest, Colonel - just one hornet - but it's the biggest, peskiest, orneriest hornet Ben Travis will ever see.

Ben Travis:
You know, I've always been interested in balloons. How does this one work?

Katy Cogswell:
On the principle of hot air. I'm sure you're familiar with that.

John Duncan:
