The quotes are not exactly correct. Uncle Chris tells the doctor, "I watch!" And he then says, "I'm head of family."

And the opening read by Barbara Bel Geddes should read "For as long as I could remember, the house on the Larkin St. hill had been home. Papa and Mama had both been born in Norway, but they came to San Francisco because Mama's sisters were here. All of us were born here: Nels, the oldest, my sister Christine, and the littlest sister, Dagmar. But first and foremost, I remember Mama."

I like when Uncle Chris is dismayed to find out that the children were afraid of him. He tells them there's nothing to be afraid of ("I'm your Uncle Chris"), then he confesses to them he likes to scare the aunts, which makes the girls laugh. He asks them if they dislike the aunts and which they most dislike. One says she dislikes Aunt Jenny because she's so bossy, and the other says she dislikes Aunt Sigrid because she's always whining. Uncle Chris begins to laugh and says, "Jenny bossy? Sigrid whiny? Is true!!"

"Ten thousand Swedes ran through the weeds, at the battle of Copenhagen; ten thousand Swedes ran through the weeks, chasing one Norwegian." And Uncle Chris pronounces it "Norveegan."
