HOSTESS:
He was the same. Before. In love with music.

PAUL:
Before? Did something happen?

HOSTESS:
Yeah, things happen. But his love will never die.

PAUL:
Have you ever met someone, and, it'd be like, even though you've only known them for a short time, it's like something you've never experienced before? Like, I dunno, like you're in heaven and, like nothing else on earth really matters?

HOSTESS:
No. [pause] Because there is too much on this earth that does matter. Family. Friends. Ourselves.

HOSTESS:
Love's a luxury not everyone can afford.

PAUL:
When I was younger I always used to dream that I would have a girl-friend. But I always wanted it to be somebody special.

JAPANESE TOURIST:
Did you ever find her?

PAUL:
I thought so.

SALES REP:
Are you gweilo? You can drink that?

PAUL:
Yeah, it's really nice.

SALES REP:
Yeah, it's nice. But gweilo don't usually drink that.

PAUL:
Why? What is it?

SALES REP:
That's snake soup, mate.

PAUL:
Hmm. Thanks.

BANK STAFF:

PAUL:
Sounds like my day.

PAUL:
Angel from heaven. Stepping into my life.

ANGEL:
The devil's an angel too.

PAUL:
Which one are you?

TAXI DRIVER:
Are you Christian?

PAUL:
Er, yeah, I guess. Why?

TAXI DRIVER:
Chinese religion better.

PAUL:
Why do you say that?

TAXI DRIVER:
When Christians die, they all become angel and go to heaven, is it? But in Hong Kong, when our relatives die they all stay with us. Become ghosts. [pause] So we are not lonely.

PAUL:
Sorry. Why are you telling me this?

TAXI DRIVER:
You look lonely.
