Maine Pyar Kiya (English: I fell in Love), also known as MPK, is a 1989 Indian musical romance film, directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and written by Barjatya with S. M. Ahale. Starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree in the lead roles, it was produced by Rajshri Productions. It was Barjatya's directorial debut, Khan's first leading role (after a supporting role in the previous year's Biwi Ho To Aisi), and Bhagyashree's film debut. Maine Pyar Kiya tells the story of Prem and Suman, who become friends and then gradually fall in love. It was the top-grossing Bollywood film of the year, and the highest-grossing Indian film of the 1980s. The film is counted among the top 10 successful films of Indian cinema. The film's soundtrack album sold over 10 million units, making it the best-selling Bollywood music album of the 1980s. At the 35th Filmfare Awards, the film won six awards, including Best Film.
