Big Boss:
[Upon completing Mission 46, Venom Snake learns his true identity] Now do you remember? Who you are? What you were meant to do? I cheated death, thanks to you. And thanks to you I've left my mark. [Snake removes a bag placed over Hideo's head] Snake... [Snake places a pair of glasses on Hideo's face]... What took you so long?

Punished Snake:
We'll talk, but not here. [Snake picks up Hideo, and places him over his shoulder to carry him to an extraction chopper]

AI Pod:
Who are you? Snake...? It's not you... Is it?

Kazuhira Miller:
[Over Radio] Just go along with him for now. We're ready to fight if it comes to that. That's our leverage against him - our deterrent. He doesn't want a war on his hands.

Skull Face:
[Skull Face talks Snake into following him] Whatever the Navajo told you... it's just one possible solution derived by Cipher. My will is different. I've known you since your time at Langley. I've long been the other side of your coin. 1964, Soviet territory. FOX's first mission. Any mess you made, I was there to clean up. You completed your task - and admirably. The "information" you returned was far more than enough to fill our pockets. With it, our futures became - more or less - set in stone. And then the major came to me with an idea. [Skull Face, Snake, and four XOF soldiers step into a cargo elevator which goes to a lower level]

It was he who should feel my wrath. He and the code he chose as basis for control. Language codes, information codes - beamed all around us - genetic codes spanning history. By controlling the codes, Cipher... Zero intends to unify the world. Codes implanted into our heads, sucking our minds dry as it spreads from one host to the next. A parasite upon the earth. That is what Zero is. As one born into this world, he's afflicted. I hold him responsible for killing my freedom. Killing all traces of my past... Killing any promise of a future... We are all but dead men forced to walk upon this earth. A world reduced to Zero. Cipher plans to use its codes to control the world. They think they can. [He pulls out a small canister]

Skull Face:
And the "mother tongue" of all those codes is English. [He opens the canister, revealing two vials and a space for a third one which is empty]

Skull Face:
The word became flesh. The final parasite. [Skull Face grabs and holds onto one of these vials and shows it to Snake]

Skull Face:
It knows English. An English strain of the vocal cord parasite. [He puts it back in it's canister and closes it before setting it down beside him]

Skull Face:
I will exterminate the English language. With this, I'll rid the world of infestation. All men will breathe free again - reclaim their past, present, and future. This is no ethnic cleanser. It is a "liberator," to free the world from Zero. Let the world be. Sans lingua franca, the world will be torn asunder. And then, it shall be free. People will suffer, of course - a phantom pain. The world will need a new common tongue. A language of nukes. My Metal Gears shall be the thread by which all countries are bound together, in equality. No words will be needed. Every man will be forced to recognize his neighbor. People will swallow their pain. They will link lost hands. And the world will become one. This war is peace. [the last two verses of "Sins of the Father" are heard on the radio while Snake and Skull Face continue to face each other with no words spoken]

Skull Face:
[Toward the end of the song, the jeep arrives at the Serek Power Plant] When the world witnesses Sahelanthropus, the hands of the doomsday clock will roll on, regardless of Zero. Sahelanthropus will take the first giant step into a brave new world. It is the bell with which a world - trodden upon by words - declares its independence.

Skull Face:
You too have known loss. And that loss torments you still. [his XOF guards stand before Snake ready to fire]

Skull Face:
[Skull Face lowers their weapons] You hope hatred... might someday replace the pain. But it never goes away. It makes a man hideous inside and out.

Skull Face:
[removes his hat] Wouldn't you agree? We both are demons. Our humanity won't return. You. Me. We've no place to run, nowhere to hide. And that is why I will show you my demon.

Skull Face:
[puts on his hat] Follow me, Big Boss.

Paz Ortega Andrade:
You can kill Skullface, murder Huey, burn the world down and it still won't bring me back. Me or any of the dead.

Ocelot:
Boss get down! The enemy sniper... stay low and crawl along the ground, that should enable you to sneak past enemies.

[Cassette Tape - "AI Pod's Final Recording"] Open this thing! Huey! Damn it Huey! Open it now! Please... Let me out... Kill me... If only I tried to get out sooner... Perhaps I'd have made it. Since the industry's spread out to the PF's, it may have a favorable influence on Cipher.To a ruler, an everlasting enemy is convenient. By directing the public's animosity outside his borders, he can unify their frame of mind. Guns-for-hire continue the war. Then enrich the economy with their spoils. War as a business will become a permanent tool for manipulating the public mind. A new business model. You might even call it a "war economy." Before long, Cipher, or rather the Patriots, will be drawn to this. Probably only a few decades before it takes hold... it's not far off at all.

Ocelot:
[Cassette Tape - "Report to Big Boss: Cipher's Information Control"] Still no leads on Zero. We don't even know whether he's still alive. But the protocol he put in motion's making steady progress. Every day, SIGINT's web covers a little more of the globe. Total information control. Big Brother Zero. And it'll happen before anyone even realizes. I don't like it. You're the Big Brother of the battlefield - you've earned a firm grip on the world's military power. But soon, Zero will have nations in his. He'll erase the Cold War - all war - from peoples' minds. And with it, the world's borders. Zero's will - his influence - will be unleashed, with nothing to stem the tied. When that happens, opposition will no longer match the lines on the map. And Boss, with no borders left, what difference can we make? War will have lost any true meaning to the world. Just one more gear keeping the wheels of economy turning. Another product bearing down the capitalist conveyor belt. The future your friend Miller wanted - that's all there is in store. Perhaps it's already too late. But, human will should only be handed down and nutured by human hands. It can't be entrusted to "the system" - especially not that soulless phantom that Zero's left in his wake. Punished Snake:
[after all nuclear weapons are dismantled] I haven't forgotten what you told me, Boss. We have no tomorrow, but there's still hope for the future. In our struggle to survive the present, we push the future farther away. Will I see it in my lifetime? Probably not. Which means there's no time to waste. Someday the world will no longer need us. No need for the gun, or the hand to pull the trigger. I have to drive out this demon inside me - build a better future. That's what I - what we - will leave as our legacy. Another mission, right Boss?

Ocelot:
You see that in the movies? That's an automatic - don't bother trying to dampen the recoil. You do that with a revolver. We Diamond Dogs are now a force to be reckoned with. We've got the world's attention. We're not some tribal militia, so don't act like one! You will learn how a real soldier fights. You will forget everything Hollywood taught you.
