Policeman:

Deputy U.S. Marshal Al Buffer:

Ruby Nell Bridges:

Mrs. Stein:

Abon Bridges:
Why?

Mrs. Stein:

Abon Bridges:
Ok fine I won't cone in here no more if that's how you want it. You remember who was first to come in here when you first moved here and them crackers wouldn't buy from some Jews. Ain't been nothing but nice to you but if that's how you want it that's how its gonna be.

No body knows what he really looks like. And when she sees this everything that tells us that god looks more like the white folk outside her school than her.

Barbara Henry:

Dr. Robert Coles:
Honey I saw you talking to them. Did you finally get angry with them? Did you tell them to just leave you alone?

Ruby Nell Bridges:
No, I didn't tell them anything I didn't talk to them.

Dr. Robert Coles:

Ruby Nell Bridges:

Ruby Nell Bridges:
Yes, I pray for them everyday in the car. But I forgot that day.

Dr. Robert Coles:

Ruby Nell Bridges:
Please god, forgive these people because even if they say those mean things they don't know what they're doing. So you can forgive them just like you did those folks along time ago when they said terrible things about you.

Miss Spencer:
She is a good teacher, my kids can't read that well yet!

Ruby Nell Bridges:
I think people are happier when they make friends, what do you think?

Dr. Robert Coles:

Minister:
I'm just trying to take my daughter to school!

Crowd:

[after he refuses food from Lucille] Can you make me some dinner now?

I'm sorry... Baby I've been to the school and I've seen it. Its better! Its cleaner, its nicer its newer. And her teacher... her teacher is from up north and she's smart and she's kind.

Abon Bridges:
She's supposed to go alone tomorrow. She's just a little girl how can we put her through it?

Lucielle 'Lucy' Bridges:
I'm sick of people telling us where we can go, what we can do, what we ain't supposed to have. My children are going to have more, they deserve more and the only way things will get better for them is if we make them better. Honey, we can't be afraid.
