The Back Country

Diane Jackson:
[Awakened by distant gun shots] Are those hunters?

Jim Quaid:
Only animals and murderers hunt at night.

Jim Quaid:
I'm just grateful you were there. He may have taught me everything I know about fishing, but you, you pretty much taught me everything else.

Chuck Quaid:
Oh, I just taught you what he taught me.

Jim Quaid:
But you didn't have to.

Chuck Quaid:
Well I had no choice. I made a solemn promise to the old man and the good Lord that I'd always look after you and ma, you just don't break a promise like that.

Hagen Keller:
You know, it's hard to believe. I'm gonna make more money in one year, than my old man did slaving away at that mill in ten.

Martin McGlagen:
I guess he'd be pretty proud of you huh?

Hagen Keller:
No he wouldn't.

[lights up his cigarette and takes a puff]

Hagen Keller:
He never stole a dime in his life. You know, he actually believed that trash about an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. Well I never knew a man who worked harder. And what did he have to show for it? A mountain of debt and an early grave? Well, he couldn't even afford a proper burial.

[takes another puff]

Hagen Keller:
So much for an honest day's pay. No, he wouldn't be proud of me, but I think now, he'd understand why.

Martin McGlagen:
Sometimes I wonder if I'm killing myself in there.

Hagen Keller:
You want to be rich, you've got to take a few risks.

Martin McGlagen:
Risks I can handle, it's that stinkin' odor I can't stand.

Hagen Keller:
That's what big money smells like. Get used to it.
