[Furr and Merrick are investigating a double homicide]

Det. Sgt. Lloyd B. Furr:
The papers are laying it on pretty heavy.

Det. Sgt. Phil Merrick:
Yeah. They won't be happy until we send someone to the chair.

Det. Sgt. Phil Merrick:
Neither will we.

Jay Patterson:
Found out you talked to my mother... spent a long time with her.

Det. Sgt. Lloyd B. Furr:
That's right.

Jay Patterson:
I saw her about an hour ago. She told me about you. She said you talked quiet... you treated her like a human being.

Det. Sgt. Lloyd B. Furr:
I felt sorry for her, Jay, but you haven't answered my question. Why are you giving yourself up and why did you ask for me?

Jay Patterson:
My father ran out on her; I broke her heart. I wanted to meet the only man in the world who was ever nice to my mother.

Floyd:
We figured a man that wanted to sell an oil well for $3000 was either crazy or he's a crook. Would that be right?

Harold Johnson:
More likely the latter.

[discussing possible ways of getting an undercover operative inside a hobo jungle]

Officer John J. O'Mara:
There used to be a vaudeville team, "O'Brian and O'Mara" - did a comedy act both dressed as tramps. Went pretty well on the Orpheum circuit.

Police Captain:
So?

Officer John J. O'Mara:
So... I was O'Mara!

[discussing changing outfits with a hobo]

Officer John J. O'Mara:
I need your clothes. I'll give you one of my shirts, ties, one of my suits and a pair of my shoes. Is it a deal?

Chester:
[to Mrs. O'Mara] Is-Is he crazy?

Betty O'Mara:
He wasn't this morning.

Officer John J. O'Mara:
Alright, is it a deal - yes or no?

Chester:
I don't care if he is crazy. A deal!

Betty O'Mara:
Um, Dear...

Officer John J. O'Mara:
What?

Betty O'Mara:
In case you are crazy - I care.

Officer John J. O'Mara:
Well, I shouldn't have any trouble getting into the hobo jungle.

Police Captain:
Getting in? I'm worried about you getting out!

Jerry - Reporter:
Did you find any fingerprints? Did you get a plaster cast of a footprint? Anything!

Officer John J. O'Mara:
Oh, brother. Television is ruinin' you guys.

Jerry - Reporter:
I get my ideas from Dick Tracy.

Deputy Charles Newsome:
The people of this town are sick of you - up to here. There's going to be an election next week, but none of you are going to be around to see it. You don't live here, you don't belong here and you're not wanted. You say this town belongs to the days of the Old West. Alright, we'll have law like they had and it's this. Get out and stay out or go out feet first. You, Slade - you're first. Be out by Election Day.

Slade:
