Klaus Mikaelson:
I'll tell you what I know about death, Camille. Death dances silently in everyone's shadow, and she doesn't give a damn. So why give a damn about her?

Klaus Mikaelson:
I love my family. You, Elijah, I loved all of you. I know I can be difficult, but I did not make myself that way. It was Mikael who ruined me.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
He ruined me too, that's what you forget. Centuries later, each of us is broken. You with your anger and paranoia, me with my fear of abandonment, and poor Elijah, he dedicates himself to everyone but himself. We are the strongest creatures in the world, and yet we're damaged beyond repair. We lived without hope, but we will never die. We are the definition of cursed, always and forever.

Elijah Mikaelson:
Family is power, Niklaus. Love, loyalty. That's power!

Klaus Mikaelson:
There is beauty in the courage of the fragile fighter. Those that persevere, despite all they've been through, those who still believe there is good in the world, as dark things we often find we need that light the most.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Cami] If I tell you who I really am and you refuse to believe me then I can hardly be blamed for your disappointment.

Klaus Mikaelson:
In every moment a choice exists. We can cling to the past or embrace the inevitability of change and allow a brighter future to unfold before us. Such an uncertain future may call for even more uncertain allies. Either way, a new day is coming whether we like it or not. The question is will you control it, or will it control you?

Klaus Mikaelson:
This family makes me want to murder people.

Jackson Kenner:
Klaus, if you want to fight me, come on.

Klaus Mikaelson:
You mistake my intentions. I haven't come here to fight you. Not at all. This is to be an execution. Tell me, how exactly would you like to die?

Klaus Mikaelson:
It turns out my brother is even more depraved than I am. He is the noble stag no longer, indeed an altogether different beast is crepeing through the cracks. And you have also altogether failed in your representation of me because there is one thing you never thought me capable of. Forgiveness. You, Finn, have remained a boar for centuries but here is where your true fault lies. You never learned that the bonds of family far outweigh anything else. Such bonds trump petty jealousies, they overcome great feuds, and yes, they even allow one monster to pardon the great sins of another.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Kol and Finn] I'd prefer you both to join me against our mother, but I'll happily settle for one or the other. Either way, if you continue to defy me, your lives will be reduced to an unending sequence of agonizing torture. So, which is it to be?

Klaus Mikaelson:
We were innocent once, Elijah. This bloodlust was forced upon us by our parents, turning us from prey to predator. We are the demons lurking in shadow. We are the savage villains in fairy tales told to children. But not for my child. Not for Hope. In her story, we are the knights in shining armor. Without you by my side, I don't think I can survive my own love for my daughter. I need you. I need you, brother. The monster in me can only be checked by the monster in you. Klaus Mikaelson:
You rant and rave about the monster I have become, but you, mother, you are the author of everything I am.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I bowed down to you, brother, to make up for daggering you for the greater good of our plan to reclaim our home. I looked the other way, sister, while you repeat the same cycle with Marcel, falling again for a man you shouldn't be with while he controls the empire that we buit, that he took. Now I make no excuses for past sins, but in the one momeny when you two could have chosen to stand by me, to believe in me, to believe that my intentions for my own child were pure, you turned against me to side with my enemies. I wanted our home back, and now I have it. So I'm going to live there and the two of you can stay here together and rot.

Klaus Mikaelson:
There's no power in love! Mercy makes you weak! Family makes you weak!

Elijah Mikaelson:
No one hurts my family and lives. No one.

Elijah Mikaelson:
I believe that when you love someone and that person loves you in return you're uniquely vulnerable. They have a power to hurt you that's like nothing else.

Elijah Mikaelson:
If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results then surely my quest for your salvation ranks me as one of the maddest of men.

Elijah Mikaelson:
You listen very carefully. I told a good friend that I'd do my very best to spare the lives of her people. You leave now and I will do my very best to honor that. Stay and the situation becomes irrefutably awkward.

Marcel Gerard:
[to KLaus] This is the last note in a song that I started a century ago, when I brought your dad to town. And for that I am sorry.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Hope] This city would have seen you dead, but I will have it your home. And every soul who wishes you harm will be struck down, just as sure as my blood runs in your veins, you will return to me. I love you hope

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Aurora] You presume to know me? Then know this... I will gladly end you for what you did to Camille, but first i'm gonna make you suffer in ways your spoiled, little mind cannot possible imagine! And when it's over... When your sweet recollections have been rendered obsolete, you will associate my name with fear and pain and perhaps the dull realization that you... Are nothing to me!

Klaus Mikaelson:

Camille O'Connell:
I'm in a crap mood because my uncle just died and people are partying like it's Mardi Gras.

Camille O'Connell:

Marcel Gerard:
I thought you said you didn't want to know.

Camille O'Connell:
I'd like to say I slept on it, but I didn't sleep. I stayed awake all night next to the body of a hexed priest only to attend a funeral filled with vampires so I'm thinking you should tell me about the key.

Marcel Gerard:
[toasting at the wake] Kieran rolled into town on a rusty old Cruise after his daddy died 25 years ago. And damn, could that guy party. That was back before he took his vows, but even then, he was committed to the Quarter. He knew that this town needed him. And we still do. To Father K.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Seems rather uncivilized to laugh and dance around the body of a loved one.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[disdainfully] Yes, far better to practice your process of grief, Niklaus. Denial, rage, and hoarding coffins in basements.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Every king needs an heir.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[to Klaus] You want to know what the witches have in store for you? Follow me.

Sophie Deveraux:
[about Marcel, to Klaus] I'm going to stop him and you're going to help me.

Marcel Gerard:
[to Klaus] What's mine is yours but it is mine!

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
[observantly] Third time in here this week.

Hayley:
I'm obsessed with the gumbo, Jane-Anne.

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
You know, the ladies in the 9th Ward say my sister, Sophie, bleeds a piece of her soul into every dish.

Hayley:
I asked around the Quarter about my family

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
And?

Hayley:
Nothing. Zero. I can't find a single person who remembers them.

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
Because, Hayley, people like you were run out of here years ago.

Hayley:
[unsure now] What do you mean: "people like me"?

Sophie Deveraux:
[about Hayley, nervous] Don't do it. Please. What if I'm wrong about her?

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
[preparing the ritual] That's the beauty of you. You're never wrong. She's the only way we're gonna get to Klaus.

Sophie Deveraux:
Can't we get someone else to do the spell?

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
Who? Half the witches don't believe you and the other half are too scared.

Sophie Deveraux:
Because they know we're gonna get caught, Jane-Anne.

Jane-Anne Deveraux:
We don't have any other options, Sophie.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[on her cellphone] New Orleans? What the hell is Klaus doing there?

Elijah Mikaelson:
Evidently there are witches conspiring against him. So, knowing our brother, this was a mission to silence and slaughter.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
The French Quarter witches are not a lot to be trifled with. You don't suppose they've found a way to kill him once and for all, do you?

Elijah Mikaelson:
Rebekah, in the name of our family, you might try to dial down your glee.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[scoffing] What family? We're three distrustful acquaintances who happen to share a bloodline. I, for one, hope they've found a way to make that traitorous bastard rot.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[as he's walking out] Where are you going?

Elijah Mikaelson:
To find out who's making a move against our brother. And then I'll either stop them... or I'll help them, depending on my mood.

Agnes:
Witches don't talk outta school in the Quarter. The vampires won't allow it. Those are the rules. I don't break Marcel's rules.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Marcel's rules? Where do you suppose I might find Marcel?

Marcel Gerard:
[as they greet each other] Klaus.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Marcel.

Marcel Gerard:
Must be a hundred years since that nasty business with your papa.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Has it been that long?

Marcel Gerard:
The way I recall it, he ran you outta town. Left a trail of dead vampires in his wake.

Klaus Mikaelson:
And yet how fortunate you managed to survive. My father, I'm afraid, I recently incinerated to dust.

Marcel Gerard:
Well, if I'd known you were coming back to town, if I had a heads-up...

Klaus Mikaelson:
What, Marcel? What would you have done?

Marcel Gerard:
[happily] I'd have thrown you a damn parade!

Marcel Gerard:
[seeing him] Niklaus Mikaelson! My mentor, my savior, my sire. Let's get you a drink.

Marcel Gerard:
It's good to see you.

Klaus Mikaelson:
It's good to be home. Although please tell me the current state of Bourbon Street is not your doing.

Marcel Gerard:
Something's gotta draw in the out-of-towners. Otherwise we'd all go hungry.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I see your friends are daywalkers.

Marcel Gerard:
Yeah, yeah, I shared the secret of your daylight ring with a few buddies. Just the inner circle, though. The family.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Tell me. How did you find a witch will to make daylight rings?

Marcel Gerard:
I got the witches around here wrapped around my finger.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Is that so? I'm looking for a witch by the name of Jane-Anne Deveraux. Has some business with me.

Marcel Gerard:
[as he drinks] Oh, how's your family?

Klaus Mikaelson:
Those who live hate me more then ever.

Marcel Gerard:
Ah, forget 'em. If your blood relations let you down, you make your own, eh? You taught me that. And what's mine is yours, as always. Even my nightwalkers and the riff-raff.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[upset, after watching Marcel execute Jane-Anne] What was that?

Marcel Gerard:
Hey, come walk with me. The witches aren't allowed to do magic her. She broke the rules.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I told you I wanted to talk to her!

Marcel Gerard:
Hey, I'm sorry. I got caught up in the show. Those witches, they think that they still have power in this town. I have to show them that they don't. I never waste an opportunity for a show of force. Another lesson that I learned from you. And besides, anything that you could've gotten outta her, I can find out for you, and I will. I promise.

Sophie Deveraux:
[stops chopping food and looks up] You're Klaus?

Klaus Mikaelson:
I am. And you're upset. Sophie, isn't it? I assume this is because of what I just witnessed with your sister on the corner of Royal and St. Ann?

Sophie Deveraux:
Did you enjoy the show?

Klaus Mikaelson:
It was a little melodramatic for my tastes. What did your sister want with me? Why did Marcel kill her?

Camille O'Connell:
If you're here for the gumbo, I'm about the break your heart. We just ran out.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to the lackey vampires following him] If Marcel wants to know what I'm up to, he can ask me himself.

Sophie Deveraux:
[to the approaching vampires, sarcastically as she stands by the candle memorial] I'm praying to my dead sister. Go ahead, pay your respects!

Elijah Mikaelson:
[to Sophie] So, why don't you tell me what business your family has with my brother?

Marcel Gerard:
I get it. A show of force. You made your point. Let it go, friend, ah? For me?

Klaus Mikaelson:
Fine. Why don't you show me what you've done with the place, while you explain exactly what it is you've been up to in my town.

Marcel Gerard:
[looking out over the city] Look at that skyline, huh? That there, that's progress. More hotels, more tourists, more fresh blood. And the humans? I taught them to look the other way.

Klaus Mikaelson:
And what of the witches? In my time, they were a force to be reckoned with, and now they live in fear. How do you know when they're using magic?

Marcel Gerard:
Maybe I got a secret weapon, an ace up my sleeve; something that gives me complete control over all the magic in this town.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Hmm? Is that a fact?

Marcel Gerard:
Might be. Maybe I'm just bluffing.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[knowingly without turning] Evening, Elijah.

Elijah Mikaelson:
Niklaus.

Klaus Mikaelson:
What an entirely unwelcome surprise.

Elijah Mikaelson:
Come with me.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I'm not going anywhere. Not until I find out who's conspiring against me.

Elijah Mikaelson:
I believe I just found that out for you.

Sophie Deveraux:
[reasoning to Klaus] You know you're famous in this town. Witches tell bedtime stories about the powerful vampire Klaus. We know Marcel was nothing but an orphan street rat, until you made him what he is. And now he's out of control. He does what he wants. He kills who he wants. I'm gonna stop him, and you're gonna help me.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[amused, to Elijah] This is why you brought me here?

Elijah Mikaelson:
Hear her out.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I don't need to hear her out. [to Sophie] I assure you, love; , there is not a thing on this earth that will matter enough for me to waste even thirty more seconds of my time. [sees Halyey walk in] Elijah, what madness is this?

Hayley:
Klaus, you need to listen to them.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[incredulously to the group] You're all out of your minds if you think some liquor-fueled, one-night stand, no offense sweetheart, means anything to me.

Sophie Deveraux:
Marcel may be able to keep us from practicing real magic in this town, but as keepers of the balance we still know when nature has cooked up something new. For example, I have a special gift... of sensing when a girl is pregnant.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[about Hayley] Niklaus, the girls is carrying your child.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[not believing] No. It's impossible. Vampire cannot procreate.

Sophie Deveraux:
But werewolves can. Magic made you a vampire, but you were born a werewolf. You're the Original hybrid. The first of your kind and this pregnancy is one of nature's loopholes.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Hayley] You've been with someone else. Admit it!

Hayley:
[irately] Hey, I've spent days held captive in a freaking alligator bayou because they think that I'm carrying some magical miracle baby. Don't you think I would've fessed up if it wasn't yours?

Klaus Mikaelson:
[about Hayley's child] It's a trick, Elijah.

Elijah Mikaelson:
No, brother. It's a gift. It's your chance... it's our chance.

Klaus Mikaelson:
To what?

Elijah Mikaelson:
To start over. Take back everything we lost, everything that was taken from us. Niklaus. Our own parents came to despise us. Our family was ruined. We were ruined. And since then, all that you have ever wanted... all that we have ever wanted was a family.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I will not be manipulated.

Elijah Mikaelson:
So they're manipulating you. So what? With them, this girls and her child... your child... live.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[seething] I'm gonna kill every last one of them!

Elijah Mikaelson:
And then what? Then you return to Mystic Falls to resume your life as the hated one? As the evil hybrid? Is it so important to you that people quake with fear at the sound of your name?

Klaus Mikaelson:
People quake with fear because I have the power to make them afraid. What will this child offer me? Will it guarantee me power?

Elijah Mikaelson:
[to Klaus] Family is power, Niklaus. Love, loyalty; that's power. This is what we swore to one another a thousand years ago, before life tore away what little humanity you had left, before ego, before anger, before paranoia created in this person before me someone I can barely even recognize as my own brother. This is us. The Original family, and we remain together, always and forever. I am asking you to stay here. I will help you and I will stand by you. I will be your brother. We will build a home here together. So save this girl. Save your child.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[about Klaus] He's doing what he does. Given a chance at happiness, Klaus runs the other way.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
Then let him run. That child, if it's even his, is better off without him.

Elijah Mikaelson:
He's not better of without that child, Rebekah. And neither are we.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
Darling, kind Elijah. Our brother rarely brings us anything but pain. At what point in your immortal life will you stop searching for his redemption?

Elijah Mikaelson:
I'll stop searching for his redemption when I believe there is none left to be found.

Marcel Gerard:
Hey, man. Where'd you run off to?

Klaus Mikaelson:
You mean your minions aren't still documenting my every move?

Marcel Gerard:
Someone put you in a mood. What can I do?

Klaus Mikaelson:
What you can do is you can tell me what this thing is you have with the witches.

Marcel Gerard:
Oh, we're back to that?

Marcel Gerard:
You know I owe you everything I got, but I'm afraid I have to draw the line on this one. This is my business. I control the witches in my town. Let's just leave it at that.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Your town?

Marcel Gerard:
Damn straight.

Klaus Mikaelson:
That's funny, because when I left 100 years ago, you were just a pathetic little scrapper still trembling from the lashes of the whips of those who would keep you down, and now look at you. Master of your domain. Prince of the city. I'd like to know how.

Marcel Gerard:
Why? Jealous? Hey, man, I get it. Three hundred years ago, you helped build a backwater penal colony into something. You started it, but then you left. Actually, you ran from it. I saw it through. Look around. Vampires rule this city now. We don't have to live in the shadows like rats. The locals know their place. They look the other way. I got rid of the werewolves. I even found a way to shut down the witches. The blood never stops flowing and the party never ends. You wanna pass on through? You wanna stay a while? Great. What's mine is yours, but it is mine. My home, my family, my rules.

Klaus Mikaelson:
And if someone breaks those rules?

Marcel Gerard:
They die. Mercy is for the weak. You taught me that, too. And I'm not the prince of the Quarter, friend. I'm the king. Show my some respect!

Camille O'Connell:
[regarding the street painter with the large canvas] Every artist has a story, you know.

Klaus Mikaelson:
And what do you suppose his story is?

Camille O'Connell:
He's angry. Dark. Doesn't feel safe and doesn't know what to do about it. He wishes he could control his demons instead of having his demons control him. He's lost, alone. Or maybe he just drank too much tonight... [as Klaus just looks at her] Sorry. Overzealous Psych major.

Klaus Mikaelson:
No. I think you were probably right the first time.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[as Elijah sits down] Are you here to give me another pep talk on the joys of fatherhood?

Elijah Mikaelson:
I've said all I needed to say.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I forgot how much I like this town.

Elijah Mikaelson:
I didn't forget. All the centuries we've spent together, and yet I can count on one hand the number of time that our family has been truly happy. I hated leaving here.

Klaus Mikaelson:
As did I.

Elijah Mikaelson:
What is on your mind, brother?

Elijah Mikaelson:
So, how do you propose this will work?

Sophie Deveraux:
Your brother needs to cement his place in Marcel's world. His inner circle, the daywalkers. That's where we begin. They're his friends, his family. We'll be hitting him where it hurts.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Marcel, about caring for Cami] She woke in the dark, not knowing where she was or who was watching over her. It was your name she called, and if you can grant her comfort, so be it.

Marcel Gerard:
[to Haley] Whatever happened in the bayou, I'm not your guy. But with the way things are going eventually I might have to be.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[to Klaus] The rifts in this city run far deeper than I even imagined, Niklaus. These tribes, these factions, they're families. Families who choose to fight. Mayhem has descended upon our home, and if I am to choose a side, to our victory, Brother.

Elijah Mikaelson:
In the thousand years that we have been together, my brother has committed numerous unspeakable acts. But then again, so has Rebekah... So have I.

Hayley:
[slightly sarcastic] So did I the last time I was in Cabo.

Davina:
You think I'm normal? I'm a sixteen-year-old witch living in a church attic like some kind of freak.

Josh Rosza:
I'm a gay club kid who died came back a vampire. Yeah, normal's kind of relative.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Standing by the noble Elijah, how can I be anything but the lesser brother? A liar, a manipulator, a bastard.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Elijah] Why else would I show an interest in my own flesh and blood? A heartbroken little crybaby points his finger at me and my own brother falls in line, eager to believe the worst.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[menacingly, to Tyler] You want me to end your suffering, don't you? I did break you. I took everything from you. And now you're begging me to sweep away the shards of your shattered little life. Death offers more peace than you deserve. It's better to let you live and each morning you will wake and know that your wretched existence continues only by my will. Now go, and live the rest of your days knowing that you are nothing to me.

Marcel Gerard:
[to Rebekah] Starting right now, you have a choice between the brother who takes your happiness whenever he feels like it and the man who wants to give you everything you ever wanted.

Marcel Gerard:
[to Rebekah] Klaus will never be happy. He'll be damned if he lets anyone get something that he can't have.

Elijah Mikaelson:
Forgive me. Thought you were in danger. It appears I was mistaken.

Hayley:
You will not believe the crap day that I'm having.

Davina:
A coven of psycho witches wants to sacrifice me in a blood ritual.

Josh Rosza:
[stunned] Oh, wow... Okay... sorry.

Davina:
I'm a witch, I'm not Amish. I'm just sixteen. I don't go to clubs.

Josh Rosza:
[to Davina] I can't think about music right now. Why? I don't know. Maybe because you're giving me a voodoo lobotomy.

Marcel Gerard:
[to Rebekah] If you think that I'd ever in a thousand years do anything to hurt you, then you got me confused with Klaus.

Marcel Gerard:
[to Rebekah] You're so hot when you're angry.

Tyler Lockwood:
What makes you think I'm afraid to die?

Klaus Mikaelson:
You seem quite determined to find the little wolf.

Elijah Mikaelson:
If I'm moving too fast for you, Niklaus, you're welcome to wait in the car.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
I know you hate me but what is done is done.

Klaus Mikaelson:
What is done is never undone. It remains within ourselves, A story we tell ourselves so that we know who we are. A vicious father, a bastard son, a sister who betrayed him. Perhaps it is time for a new story.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
You missed my heart.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Perhaps I did, or perhaps I never meant to kill you. Perhaps I just wanted you to feel a fraction of the fear I felt when father came for me.

Klaus Mikaelson:
It's ingenious. I can see them, I can feel them, and yet they are not real.

Elijah Mikaelson:
There has to be a way. Even if we can just push through...

Klaus Mikaelson:
What we need to do is focus...

Elijah Mikaelson:
My only focus right now is that child and her safety. Do you understand me? This, all of this, this is the world that you created Niklaus.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Brother...

Elijah Mikaelson:
All of your scheming, the enemies that you have made, every single day of your miserable life, what results did you expect? That your child would be born into a happy life? That the mother would be alive to know her daughter? That we could live and thrive as some kind of family...

Klaus Mikaelson:
That was your fantasy brother, not mine.

Elijah Mikaelson:
No! Brother, this was our hope. This was our family's hope. And now she's gone. Do you understand, I let this person in... I let her in... I don't let people in... You knew this, you've taken her from me... I needed her and you've broken me...

Hayley:
I woke up in the church and all I felt was this hunger. And then I knew what I needed. I need her. I can feel her. She's here. I can feel my baby.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[about the baby] What's her name?

Klaus Mikaelson:
[tearfully, looking at his daughter] Hope... her name is Hope.

Elijah Mikaelson:
I do hope my siblings were hospitable in my absence.

Hayley:
[mildly sarcastic] In your absence, as you like to call it, which is a way-too-polite way of saying that your brother put a dagger in your heart. I have been attacked by French Quarter vampires. I've had to live in a house with a secret dungeon full of coffins, and I was nearly murdered by witches who are convinced that my baby is Lucifer.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[reading over his shoulder] What are you doing with Mother's spell-book?

Elijah Mikaelson:
Well, in exchange for my freedom, I promised the witch Davina that I would share a few pages from Mother's grimoire. To help her to learn to control her magic. I thought we'd begin with a little unlinking spell.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
Wait. You want to use her to unlink Hayley from Sophie Deveraux?

Elijah Mikaelson:
Sophie brought us to this town under false pretenses. She doesn't just want us to take down Marcel and his minions, she wants to take Davina back. So, she yolked her own cause to ours, with magic threats and half-truths. Well, no more. As of now, our deal with Sophie Deveraux is null and void.

Agnes:
[about Marcel] You made a deal with him?

Father Kieran:
[snapping] After what you did to Sean, I'd deal with the devil himself just to see you suffer!

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[walking in to see everyone gathered around books] So this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family? Vampire book club?

Elijah Mikaelson:
I explained to my little brother, that forgiveness cannot be bought. I'd simply prefer to see a change in behavior that indicates contrition and personal growth.

Hayley:

Camille O'Connell:
I slept like a baby every night this week. Even though my brother hacked nine priests to death, not two feet from this confessional. A guy I've been seeing, Marcel, has been blowing me off. Whatever. Rebekah Mikaelson:

Camille O'Connell:

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Marcel] I'll speak to Elijah. I'm sure he'll be pleased to host you and Davina for the evening. Especially after you were so hospitable to him.

Elijah Mikaelson:
Nobody hurts my family and lives.

Camille O'Connell:
No offense, but I'm not sure I follow why you've invited me here.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Because I enjoy your company and I sense you have the capacity for understanding someone of my... complexity. You see, I returned to New Orleans to investigate a threat posed against me. What I found was a young woman, pregnant, in need of protection. My brother, always the do-gooder, tried to manipulate me into helping her. He thought it might redeem me.

Camille O'Connell:
[analyzing him] I don't believe in evil as a diagnosis. I think you have unstable personal relationships, stress-related paranoia, chronic anger issues, and fear of abandonment. I think you could benefit from talking to someone professionally.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I think I prefer to talk to you. So, I'm going to offer you a job as my stenographer.

Camille O'Connell:
Okay. What am I writing?

Klaus Mikaelson:
My memoirs, of course. Someone should know my story. And it will give us time to discuss other riveting subjects, like your handsome suitor: Marcel.

Camille O'Connell:
[affronted] Excuse me? My private life is...

Klaus Mikaelson:
Your private life is, as it turns out, essential to my plans. You see, Marcel wants you. and because of that, he will trust you, which serves me. The thing is the French Quarter is on the verge of war. On the one side there's me and on the other, Marcel; along with a very powerful witch and an army of vampires.

Camille O'Connell:
[suddenly scared] What?

Klaus Mikaelson:
[compelling her] You're frightened... Don't be.

Camille O'Connell:
[calmly] I'm not cared anymore. That's amazing. How did you?

Klaus Mikaelson:
It's called compulsion. It's a neat bit of vampire trickery. I'll tell you all about it. But first, let's talk a little more about Marcel.

Camille O'Connell:
I know what you are. It's crazy to me but at least it makes sense. But this... massacre. [about her brother] It's just a pointless, brutal thing. In your life, have you ever heard of anything like that? A good man, an aspiring priest, just goes on a killing spree out of nowhere.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I've seen quite a lot in my time. The world is a rather awful place. Best to meet it on it's own terms.

Camille O'Connell:
No. The word isn't awful. People are not awful. They want to be good. Something makes them bad, makes them snap. There are always signs. Symptoms before someone has a psychotic break.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[after he's woken up from being "daggered"] It's alright, Devina. I don't mean you any harm. Though I do think it's time we had a talk.

Camille O'Connell:
[pleading to Klaus] What about my brother, my twin brother? We were bonded our whole lives and I know, I know he didn't just snap. And I need to know who did this and I need to make this right. Don't take this away from me.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[about Cami] Stop fooling yourself, Marcel. She's comfort food. Something to distract you from what you really want which after all these years is impossible to deny because I'm standing right in front of you.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
I want Elijah back!

Marcel Gerard:

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Davina] One of the tragic consequences of war... innocent bystanders.

Rebekah Mikaelson:
If I had a dollar for every mess my family has gotten me into...

Father Kieran:
Never forget, Marcel, that you live in this city by the grace of those who know your secret and tolerate it.

Marcel Gerard:

Klaus Mikaelson:

Klaus Mikaelson:
Abnormal psychology. Well, perhaps you could help me diagnose my friend over here. He's been a little but depressed. Can't get his mind off a girl. He tells me she's a queen fit for a king. I think he should cut his losses and move on. What's your professional opinion?

Camille O'Connell:
Be a nice guy and maybe the opportunity will present itself someday.

Hayley:
[coming down the stair with a fireplace poker] Who the hell are you?

Rebekah Mikaelson:
[to his voice-mail] Elijah, if not answering your phone is part of your clever plan to get me back to this god-forsaken city, then well done. I'm here and I'm worried. Now pick up before I kick in your bloody door.

Marcel Gerard:
[about the party turned feeding frenzy] THIS is how I keep my guys happy. The occasional all-you-can-eat buffet. My nightwalkers love it. Got 'em working hard trying to earn one of these daylight rings. They deserve to blow off a little steam. My daywalkers, the trusted few, well, they just like to party.

Klaus Mikaelson:
It's quite an operation. Tell me, what about the victims? Seems like a lot of graves to dig.

Marcel Gerard:
Can't kill them all. Too many folks go missing, tourism drops. So, we heal 'em with a little vamp blood, erase their memory, and send them on their way. No muss no fuss.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I'm impressed.

Marcel Gerard:
Nothing I didn't learn from you back in the day.

Marcel Gerard:
Why didn't you tell me your sister's back in town?

Klaus Mikaelson:
I thought it'd be more amusing for you to find out for yourself.

Marcel Gerard:
Is there anything else I need to know?

Klaus Mikaelson:
Only that she's grown considerably more insane in the last century.

Marcel Gerard:
Or maybe that it was her who killed my guys.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Doubtful. Unless that biker bar is frequented by small-town high school quarterbacks, I can't imagine she'd be interested.

Marcel Gerard:
I don't have time for Mikaelson family drama. You're my guest. Keep your sister in line.

Klaus Mikaelson:
I'd have greater chance of draining the Mississippi with a straw.

Marcel Gerard:
[as a young man after a dual] I'm gonna marry you someday.

Rebekah Mikaelson:

Camille O'Connell:
[the camera pans over the Quarter and showing civilians partying below] This is a city of death, fires, floods. To say nothing of the violence we do to each other. We may laissez les bon temps rouler, but really we've turned life into one big party to distract ourselves from a single, unavoidable truth [the scene changes to Cami looking out of the window taking in the scene below] We're all going to die.

Klaus Mikaelson:
Our mother, Elijah, the woman brought us into the world, made us what we are, and the whole time she lied to me. She made me weak.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[resolved] You were never weak, Niklaus. You are and you have always been the most fierce of us all. Hayley Marshall:

Camille O'Connell:

Hayley Marshall:
[walking in] So those werewolf kids you helped get out the Quarter made it to the safe house up north.

Marcel Gerard:
[pouring a drink and offering it to her] Great. My good deed for the decade.

Marcel Gerard:

Marcel Gerard:

Camille O'Connell:

Klaus Mikaelson:
[to Cami] Well, I mean to be clear. I only compelled you to give him a chance. Anything you felt for him was quite real. and for the record, the level of awkwardness we're all currently experiencing is entirely genuine.

Camille O'Connell:

[as he opens a crate to reveal a bomb] Although he did leave us a delightful parting gift.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[about Marcel] He fills a room with dynamite and yet I'm the tactless one?

Jackson:
[still tied up as Klaus opens more crates] Are you trying to kill us?

Francesca Correa:
Every revolution requires sacrifice.

Marcel Gerard:
[to his vampires] This is Thierry Vanchure. Mean-ass horn player, lover of feisty women, witch, vampire, and human alike. I rebuilt this city with him and he always had my back even when I screwed up and forgot to have his. And now all I can do is promise this, T. I won't let you die in vain. I will take back our city, even if I have to burn it down first.

Elijah Mikaelson:
[about Haley] I have denied every sinlge impulse that I have ever had for that woman, out of some misbegotten respect for intentions that you don't even have.

Klaus Mikaelson:
[near seething] I'm warning you!

Elijah Mikaelson:
