Doris:

Timothy:
Hey, Frank. You want to play?

Frank #2:
Who, me? I've never played with anyone who is not Frank.

Timothy:
We were good puzzle partners. Maybe we can be good football partners.

Yoko:
Mama! Mama, look! Look what came in the mail.

Yoko's Mom:
It is from your grandmother, all the way from Japan. You can open it, Yoko. It is addressed to you.

Yoko:
Okay.

Mrs. Jenkins:
Okay, everyone put away your things, then sit down under the Learning Tree. It's Yoko's turn for In the Spotlight.

Big Frank:
First there's feeling sorry, second there's saying "sorry," and third, there's doing something to show you're sorry.

Is everybody ready?

[class shouts to indicate their readiness]

[loud cheers and chattering as the students launch their taketombos]

Yoko:
[pointing to a photo] Who's that Mama?

Yoko's Mom:
That is your grandfather, weeding his family's garden.

Yoko:
He doesn't look very old.

Yoko's Mom:
He was just a young boy at the time, not much older than you.

Mrs. Jenkins:
Good morning, everyone. Today we are having a special Lost and Found Day, to help Yoko search for the Netzke Family.

Fritz:
Look what I found, Lilly.

Lilly:
It's my lunchbox! I mean, one of my lunchboxes.

Timothy:
[regarding the Netzke Family] I wonder who put them back.

Yoko:
I don't know. I'm just so glad they did.

Fritz:
Mom, my volcano didn't go off.

Fritz's Mom:
Well, it certainly looks like a volcano went off in here. How 'bout we tidy up before breakfast?

Doris:
I'm not a good painter. Nobody likes my work.

Charles:
I like them.

Doris:
Wow. I like these paintings. They look like mine. What do you think, Charles?

Charles:
They're almost as good as yours.

Doris:
Thanks, Charles.

Timothy:
Well, don't use those. Use the real plates.

Timothy's Mom:
But I thought you liked these plates.

Timothy:
Well, I don't want Frank and Frank to think I'm a baby.

Timothy:
Pengy, I have to hide you, or the Franks will laugh at me. Don't worry, it's just for tonight. [sighs wearily]

Henry:
All righty! This is the last bike. So it must belong to...

Timothy:

Henry:
Timothy! This is new, isn't it?

Timothy:
Yeah, it's my new Red Thunder.

Timothy:
This is my Red Thunder. I got it for my birthday. It's aero, aero...

Henry:
...Aerodynamic. It means it's designed to move smoothly through the air.

Timothy's Dad:
Did you have fun with your Red Thunder?

Timothy:
Well, it's kind of a long story, Dad. You see, first we set up this course to bike around. But the Franks kind of got tired of running into things. So then I had this idea to build a ramp, kind of like the one I saw Doris's brothers use...

Timothy:
[inserting final piece into a puzzle] Got it.

Timothy's Mom:
Supper's ready. Goodness me, look at all these puzzles!

Timothy:
Yeah! We're having a Surprise Puzzle Day at school tomorrow, Mom.

Timothy's Mom:
That sounds like fun.

Timothy:
I can't wait! I love doing puzzles!

Timothy:
We've got to work together.

Yoko:
What are we going to do?

Timothy:
If we help each other, we'll find the pieces faster.

Mrs. Jenkins:
Congratulations. You did a wonderful job.

Yoko:
We couldn't have done it without Timothy, Mrs. Jenkins.

Mrs. Jenkins:
Nice job, Timothy. Picnic time, everyone!

Doris:
Huh? [sounds of laughter] It snowed! I love snow! I can't wait to play outside.

Mrs. Jenkins:
Quick sticks. Snow day is no day to spend indoors. Hats, scarves and mittens-- everyone outside!

Lilly:
Where did you go? I made snow angels and threw snowballs and built a snowgirl just like you did. I really like snow day. Can you show me more?

Doris:
But you've already done everything.

Timothy:
Well, there is one thing Lilly hasn't done yet.

Lilly, Doris:
[tobogganing] Wooo-hoo! Whee!

Timothy:

Yoko:

Yoko:
There's my mama. Want to come over to my house, and have some cookies? [She laughs as she notes the weird look on Timothy's face.] Cookies without raisins.

Timothy:
Sure.

Yoko's Mom:
[handing her a bouquet of flowers] Here we are, my little cherry blossom.

Yoko:
Ooh. Thanks, mama.

Timothy:
[gasps] What does it say?

Timothy's Mom:
It says "Guess who's invited to Mrs. Jenkins' kindergarten class at Hilltop School.

Timothy:
[opens the invitation and reveals a mirror] Me! I'm invited. Can I go, Mom?

Timothy's Mom:
Yes, Timothy. It's time to go to school!

Yoko:
How come no one wants to trade with me, Timothy? I don't understand. Mama made all my favorite food.

Timothy:
The trouble with your favorite food is that it's no one else's favorite.

Yoko:
But nothing beats sushi. There's a tasty treasure inside every piece.
