Watching the Dead

I've never solved a murder in my life. I've worked for 45 years as a Forensic pathologist; I never solved a murder. My evidence was often very important in confirming other factors, and getting a conviction. But I didn't suddenly shout 'Eureka!', I've found him, sort of stuff, like they do on television.

Getting the DNA result back next day, or getting the toxicology back - I used to be lucky to get it back in six weeks when I was working!

Prof. Bernard Knight:
The other thing, of course, is that the pathologist would interfere or get involved in the investigation. No way! I mean, I don't want to cast any stones, but "Silent Witness" with Amanda Burton - she used to go into the prison and interrogate the suspects. Bloody nonsense, sorry for my language, but just couldn't happen.
