Are people here to source quotes from those whom others consider "important"?
What makes a Good Quote? Is it the actual content of the quote or, the person alleged to have said/written it? Or, the mood one happens to be in?

Thoughts, please.

Complete figment of a writer's fertile imagination. This never happened. In reality, Queensberry & Wilde did not meet on that opening night.
Indeed, Queensberry stalked the theatre on the opening night for The Importance of Being Earnest. Alerted by Wilde however, theatre management were able to engage the services of the local constabulary to guard the entrances of the theatre against Queensberry's ingress. Despite some enterprising attempts by Queensberry, the police were successful. Queensberry got bored then, gave it up.

Whether the actual "bouquet" ever existed is questionable, too. I believe Queensberry was least likely to carry an assortment of vegetables in various stages of decay, dripping smelly, staining liquid uncontrollably - whilst dressed for an evening out. The ninth Marquess of Queensberry was a neat, exacting, polished man. Usually dressed impeccably.

Then there is the fact that if Bosie relished telling the story - which he did, then it was most likely an embellishing burst of mental window dressing on his part.

Interesting quiz. Thanks for making it freely available. I had not realised the quiz was timed. After I noticed, I found the time taken to load the questions enormously frustrating. I did get 10/10. Although, looking at the triumphant comments, 1m 32s is far too slow for my liking. Could Do Better...

This definition, along with the answer: '5. causing disapproval or protest
obnoxious' is an inappropriate definition (sorry, but for unknown reasons all text after 'obnoxious' is in green).
