This movie is a masterpiece. Central to it is Maximus' character. Truthful, loyal, honest, ungreedy, respectful of his men's lives, with a very strong moral compass... This passage is one of the central, pivotal moments of the movie. It concludes the introduction and leads to the development of the whole narrative. IMO, Maximus is one of the best crafted characters ever produced for the silver screen.more »
