An interesting byline to the quotes:- The part of the knife-wielding assassin in the funeral scene was first offered to New Orleans legend ,trumpeter Kid Thomas Valentine who turned it down. Thomas,it transpired, had been involved involved in a barroom fight where knives were used and he “ don’t want to stir up them po-lice”. The part was subsequently given to trumpeter Alvin Alcorn. more »
