Hollywood , notorious for its lackadaisical treatment of history portrayed a singular gaffe in The Maltese Falcon
The opening scroll attributes the falcon’s creation to the Knight Templars, . Which are correctly known as the Knights Templar. But most glaring is the revelation by The Fat Man that the falcon was traded for the island of Malta by the Knights of the Hospital of St John I i.e. the Hospitallers.
The screenplay is correct, the Hospitallers supposedly created the falcon. more »
