That’s very reasonable to me, at the same time, I know a lot of very capable coaches, executives who are minorities and in a lot of cases are as qualified, more qualified or quite frankly better than their White counterparts. They’re not given an opportunity.

The Rooney rule is intended to give minorities an opportunity to sit down in front of ownership, but what I think it’s turned into an instance in which guys are just checking the box, and that’s been the case. I’ve been on some interviews in the past where I’ve had that feeling. There’s always no way to know for sure, but you know. I know I’m not alone.

What needs to be changed with respect to The Rooney Rule is not the rule, but owners' compliance with the rule and the league's willingness to come down hard on owners when they violate the rule, the rule and the concept behind the rule are, in my view, strong. Compliance with the rule is, in my view, sorely lacking and that's where the disconnect is and that's what led to Brian Flores ' lawsuit.

We didn’t have to file a lawsuit for the world to know there’s a problem from a hiring standpoint in regards to minority coaches in the National Football League. The numbers speak for themselves. We filed a lawsuit so that we can create some change, and that’s important to me. We’re at a fork in the road right now, we’re either gonna keep it the way it is, or we’re gonna go in another direction and actually make some real change where actually changing the hearts and minds of those who make decisions to hire head coaches, executives, etc. We gotta change hearts and minds.

As far as the quarterback position, like every other position, there'll be competition there, in that position, we're looking for leadership, we're looking for, obviously, accuracy, we're looking for someone, who, for the most part, can lead the team. And put together successful drives and put us in good position in the run game and the pass game, from a protection standpoint. So there's a lot that goes into it; it's a leadership position and there's going to be some competition at that position for sure.
