This guy, when he’s on he’s like a one-man wrecking crew, we did pitch him tough and I’m sure that he’s going to make the adjustment when we go out there very soon.

I think about Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson and Frank Robinson, who helped me a lot, Bill Walsh, all the general managers and owners I've had, whether Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson fired me eventually or not, it just sort of added to my perseverance and determination and faith. I've also got to thank my detractors for giving me the motivation to go on because there's a lot of people that doubted me in the beginning when I first got the job with no experience, a lot of them that doubted me even though I was winning.

We’re going to try to figure out how to keep him healthy, how much his workload is — this new and improved Verlander versus the excellent Verlander of the past, also, I was there when Orel Hershiser had his Tommy John, and how good he was after Tommy John. We don't worry about what other people say or what they think. It's what you think of yourself and what you think of each other on the team that really counts.

He can say what he wants to say. I had never even heard his name before we played the White Sox. I’m not bothered by it. Most of my life, they’ve been talking stuff on me anyway. Let them talk, he had a song, ‘Before You Accuse Me (Take a Look at Yourself).’ That’s all I’ve got to say.

I don’t think two is enough, and I think 15 is too much because some teams will call up all 15 and some teams will call up four or five. You’re either outmanned, or you’ll outman them, we’ve gone from one drastic measure to another one.

We hit some balls hard on the road but nothing to show for it, so it was great for us to put up crooked numbers in all those consecutive innings, those guys didn’t take their foot off the pedal and that’s how you play, and that’s how I like to watch them play.

That was the one guy in their lineup that’s going to put the ball in play, if anybody was going to break it up over there, it was going to be him.

You’ve got to think logically about what’s best for him and best for his next start, sometimes you’re going to pitch great and lose and sometimes you’re not going to pitch so good and you’re going to win.

It has more to do with Michael, the workload on Michael’s legs, don’t forget he’s coming off that hammy. You’ve got to pick your poison. Do I give up some defense or do I take a chance on losing Michael? I’m more worried about that. We’re trying to protect Michael and keep his bat in the lineup at the same time.

What’s so disappointing is that we didn’t make a better show for the people, for our fans here, you saw a number of LA people. We would have loved to have quieted them down by having the lead and winning the ball game.

They were 3 for 24 with runners in scoring position and left 12 on base. We did fight back in the ninth, but a lot of times you lose the game before the ninth. It was very frustrating tonight to see opportunities squandered, he said. Andriese( 2-2) bounced back and retired seven straight to get the win as Los Angeles improved to 2-5 in extra-inning games. I can not give Matt Andriese enough praise, Joe Maddon said about Matt Andriese. Matt Andriese made just the one mistake pitch but did not cave. Dylan Bundy allowed only two runs in seven innings for The Angels. Dylan Bundy only trouble came in the fourth when Houston plated a pair to get within 4-2. Michael Brantley scored on Tuckers grounder to first, and Carlos Correas double drove in Yuli Gurriel. The Angels extended The Angels lead to 5-2 in the sixth on Andrelton Simmons RBI single.
