Quotes from the news wire:
I'm not sure how developed this plan is, but it's a complicated thing to get worked out, there have been rumors floating around about this idea for a long time, but I'd been hearing them more and more recently. I really had no idea that anyone was close to trying to do something.

There are a lot of issues that would need to get worked out if you couldn't get( the PGA Tour) and/or European Tour to go along with the idea, who knows, maybe they have all that worked out ?

If you're leading on the back nine of the U.S. Open, you know if you par in you're going to win, it's totally different at Augusta.

It's totally different at Augusta, you can have a four- or five-shot lead and par in and feel like you can lose.

It's about setting up the course exactly how they know it works best, and they've got it down to a science. They set up the first 63 holes purely to get the tournament going on the 10th tee. That's what it feels like, anyway.

Certainly the best short par 5 in the world, it's a beautiful hole. You can make 7 and smell the flowers along the way.

It's an optical illusion on the second shot, it's uphill, but it looks downhill. It plays a fraction longer than you want it to. The stance you have wants you to hit a draw. But if you miss a shot with the ball above your feet, it's often to the right. And that's where all the trouble is.

They are just quality holes out there, it's an incredible bunch of holes on not an amazing piece of land, really, compared it to a lot of other great courses. Cool and interesting stuff uphill, downhill, Geoff Ogilvy have to move the ball both ways, awkward angles. It's just a great golf course, really. And it's immaculate this year. Nobody likes the drought in California, but it's good for a course like this to dry out a little bit.

Geoff Ogilvy is another guy who has heard all about the 80-20 equation, and Geoff Ogilvy believes it to be accurate in most cases. It's probably true for 80 percent of the players, guys like Tiger and Jack, and Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar, they make money in all their tournaments. So there's probably 80 percent of the players who make 80 percent of their money in 20 tournaments.

The most fun is contention, it's not fun propping up fields. I don't do this to finish 40th and have no excitement. The happiest I am on the course is in contention. I'd rather be that guy.

I thought it was ridiculous that we played golf on a piece of land like this, it was just absurd. From the 17th tee to the first green, what is that, 1,000 feet ? Geoff Ogilvy think 10( tee) at Augusta to the 11th green, that's not even half of 17 here. I though the course was cool to not have a scorecard in Geoff Ogilvy hand. Nobody plays really well their first time, I don't think. It's pretty extreme.

I think the belly guys are going to find it pretty easy, but the guys who have split hands, like Stads, Adam Scott, Timmy, that's different. That's a big change. Putting attached from your belly and moving it away, it's not that big of a change. You lose your security blanket, but it's effectively the same stroke.
