Quotes from the news wire:
No, you know, I really thought I was going to be back. That was the feeling I got at the end of the year and in the exit meetings. Then it was a phone call from [coach] Arthur Smith, Sunday before everything went down, saying that he didn’t know how things were gonna shake out this week, making me aware of what was going on, and I appreciated it. He was honest. At that point, it was kinda wrapping your head around that. There’s disappointment and frustration for sure that sets in at that point.

I’ve never been through a transaction or a roster move, which is commonplace and day-to-day for the majority of the locker room, so it was a different week, it was a different experience.

The roadmap looks really good, what Matthew Stafford did in LA last year, making that transition, playing so well. And what Tom did, I saw that firsthand in the division the year before. Hopefully, we bottle up some of that momentum and we can make a push here.

To me, leadership is about serving your teammates, the one thing I’ve learned in 14 years is what certain guys need from you is different. What each team that you’re on needs from you as a player and a leader is different. You have to get to know your guys, you have to get to know your teammates really well and how they tick and how they need to be motivated and what are the things that you can help them with to bring out the best in themselves.

Yeah, it looks really good what Matthew Stafford did in Los Angles last year, making that transition work so well, and what Tom (Brady) did, I saw that first-hand in the division the year before, i hope we can ride that trend that’s been going on and make it work for us.

It’s funny, I played in a division where it was Tom Brady, Drew Brees and then me at one point and I was like 35, i was like, ‘I feel young. Tom’s 43 and Drew’s 41 but I feel good.' I really do. My body feels really great. I feel like I’ve gotten myself into a spot where I know how to train. But I feel great. I don’t feel like an old man.

I was texting with some of the guys yesterday and every one of their text messages, their first one was about winning. That’s really unique.

I am thrilled that the Colts are seeking to help build diversity and inclusion in NFL coaching by launching this diversity fellowship coaching program, it’s a tremendous honor for me to be identified with the program. I applaud the Irsay family and the organization for taking this proactive step, and I hope it encourages other teams to look for ways to promote equal opportunities in the coaching ranks.

I’ve said this in the past. I feel sorry for Antonio Brown. He’s talented but he needs help. The NFL … we’re not doing him any favors if we keep signing him and keep rewarding this behavior. Don’t sign him until he gets some help.

I played football for probably 16 years, total. I coached for 28 years. I never went to a game where the head coach didn’t come back with my team. Me and myself for 13 years as a head coach, 15 years as an assistant, 15 years playing when the head coach went to a game, when we returned, the head coach came back with us, so that to me, I just don’t know how you do that and say, ‘Hey, I’m going to stay in Ohio.’ ... That was the mistake to me. What happened in the bar or whatever, that’s secondary. You go back with your team. We finished by getting home and getting everybody — that’s your responsibility as the head coach to make sure everybody lands on that plane, safe. Everybody gets back to the facility, then you do what you have to do.

Like many families, my wife and I faced fertility challenges, and I sought medical assistance, i specifically asked the doctor if the medication he prescribed for me would present a problem for NFL drug testing, and unfortunately, he incorrectly told me that it would not. I made the mistake of not calling the NFL or NFLPA to double-check before I took the medication at the end of last season.
