John George Diefenbaker PC CH QC FRSC FRSA (18 September 1895 - 16 August 1979) was the thirteenth Prime Minister of Canada, serving from 21 June 1957 to 22 April 1963. A criminal defence lawyer by profession, he established the Canadian Bill of Rights, the Royal Commission on Health Services, the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act, played a large part in the cancellation of the Avro Arrow, the National Productivity Council (Economic Council of Canada), and extended the franchise to all Aboriginal peoples during his six years as Prime Minister.
