Quotes from the news wire:
Football’s not the easiest thing to do, no matter how much you enjoy the competition, and he’s up there in age, but, in terms of how he looks on tape and how he was [ last season ], everyone knows he can still play.

Deebo right now is playing like one of the best players in the NFL, he’s obviously talented, but the will that he has, it’s unbelievable.

That’s a fine line when you have someone who is as talented of a thrower as Jimmy, he does n’t feel the same way always in the heat of the battle, that he ca n’t make that throw. Now when you watch it on tape and stuff, then he ’ll see it.

I’ve got as much respect for Dan Quinn as anyone I’ve ever worked with, it does n’t surprise me how much Dan Quinn’s helped them this year. They’ve got a real good one, and I have a feeling Dan Quinn wo n’t be in that position very long.

They were very similar in ’19 to how it was when I was there, but just watching Dan Quinn now, in Dallas, it’s still Dan Quinn style. They play the exact same way and it’s very obvious when you see them on tape and that’s the coolest thing about Dan Quinn. But just coverage-wise and stuff, it’s very different. That’s impressive for Dan Quinn to do it a certain way Dan Quinn whole career and then to make the adjustments.

I’m excited to see him play, i know he’s got the ability to do a lot of things. But it’s going to be the first time out there for the whole game. I’m just pumped to see him play, but I don’t go into it expecting anything. You try to prepare a guy as good as you can from our standpoint. I know he’s done his part in preparing. Then when Sunday comes, that’s usually the spot where you get to have fun and just cut it loose and you live with the results.

Yeah, I thought it'd be a quick no. Which was exactly what I thought it would be. But you hear enough stuff and I think everyone knew what was going on at that time that it didn't seem like it was worth the call, but I know how we would've felt if it was going to happen and we didn't call. So, you call, you get a quick answer, which was what you're expecting, and then you move on.

They’re competing their a-s off. They’re doing a good job, it’s not about one guy versus the other guy. It’s about how good can Trey be, how good can Jimmy be. I think both of them, when you go through camp, you go through games you go through practices — it’s up and down throughout the whole thing. So that’s why I don’t sit and [say] who’s ahead of the other, what’s going on after each practice. They both bring different elements to our team. Both of them, I believe, can play at a high level and I’m trying to see which one does that the best for us.

In this business, if you’re trying to plan out the next six months and say, ‘Where’s it going?’, that’s a mistake. You can’t do it. What I told Jimmy right when we made the trade is, ‘I don’t know any rookie who can come and beat you out if you’re playing at his best self,' i didn’t necessarily think he was there last year at training camp. Then he had the injuries and stuff. But right now, I see him playing well out here. If he can continue to go that way, that’s great for Trey. That’s great for our team. Then Trey can wait till he’s at his best self, which doesn’t happen overnight.

There is not much I haven’t already said about Robert’s abilities as a coach and as a leader, as a friend, I respect him greatly and could not be happier for him, Sanaa and their family. Robert helped to build a successful environment that has developed both players and coaches, and we are thankful for everything he brought to the 49ers these last four years. We wish him all the best.

It was a tough loss, and it hurts everybody in that( locker) room losing Super Bowl, we had opportunities to win that and came up short. Win or lose, it doesn't change how I feel about our team. I'm proud of all of the guys for what they did all year, and I'm proud of what they did today.
