Lawrence John Goetz (February 15, 1895 – October 31, 1962) was a professional baseball umpire. Goetz started umpiring in the Blue Grass League from 1920 to 1922. He also umpired in the Western Ohio League, Piedmont League, and the American Association. He then became a successful National League umpire from 1936 to 1957. Goetz was an umpire in 1941, 1947, and 1952 World Series and the 1939 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. He was born and died in Cincinnati. He was one of the umpires in Norman Rockwell's famous painting Bottom of the Sixth, along with Beans Reardon and Lou Jorda. or He could be the writer/composer of three Plays (? - not sure if plays, music, or book) He cannot be both because the first one died before the second one produced whatever.
