When you think about those things that should be teed up and ready to go, this is one where in my view there’s really no excuse for why we should see further delay, this is something that’s been in the works that’s gone through so much process, across multiple administrations.

You can have one election official, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to corrupt your entire state's process, you still have governors who are responsible to the people. You still have legislators who are responsible to the states that they serve, the districts they serve. It's incumbent upon all of us to make sure again our systems are sound and the people that have oversight of those systems are good, honest and fair and principled people.

I’m really worried that everybody believes that we’re as dysfunctional as we appear to be, and so to prove otherwise, it’s kind of important, the Senate needs some demonstrated acts of bipartisanship.

The Biden administration’s actions are not unexpected but are outrageous nonetheless, suspending leases in Alaska’s 1002 Area is in direct conflict with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, through which Congress mandates an oil and gas leasing program be established on the non-wilderness Coastal Plain, and ordered at least two lease sales by 2024.

I think it was a little unfortunate that we had this very spontaneous vote on an extraordinarily significant matter without the considered debate and analysis. People had to make really quick decisions, i'm not saying there's bad faith, but I do think this is significant enough that it deserved greater consideration by this body and I think what you've seen now is people have been forced to take a quick position. Whether or not that changes as we move forward I think remains to be seen.

I am struggling with it. I have struggled with it for a long time I think you know that. I didn't support the President in the initial election, and I work hard to try to make sure that I'm able to represent my state well that I'm able to work with any administration and any president, he is our duly elected President I will continue to work with him. I will continue to work with this administration but I think right now as we are all struggling to find ways to express the words that need to be expressed appropriately, questions about who I'm going to vote for not going to vote for I think are distracting at the moment.

I think it's important to realize, as has been said before, when a nominee is advanced there is an The FBI review background investigation that comes. In fact, with Judge Judge Kavanaugh, because Judge Kavanaugh has been a nominee on multiple occasions now, Judge Kavanaugh's actually had six different The FBI reviews, if you will, the FBI basically doesn't make a determination on this as matter. ... So I think right now where we are is you have a committee process that needs to advance, again to allow this story to be told, and responded to appropriately.

I don't have an impression on Judge Kavanaugh as to where Judge Kavanaugh may fall on the issue of abortion as well as the many other issues that I will weigh as we move forward with this process, so again, that's why I think all of us need to be doing our due diligence.

I find it somewhat troubling that even before the President named Judge Kavanaugh that there were those who were roundly condemning the nominee without knowing who the nominee is, i think that there is a process -- that process needs to be fair, it needs to be open. We all, every member of the United States Senate has an equal obligation to thoroughly vet this nominee. And we will come down on one side or the other but in due deference to the nominee and in due deference to the president's prerogative to name a nominee. We have an obligation to thoroughly work through this advice and consent process.

And Murkowski’s committee held a hearing June 9 on a bill that she and Sen. Heitkamp, North Dakota Democrat, have co-sponsored on lifting the ban. However, a top Senate staff told FoxNews.com after the Iran deal was struck Tuesday that Murkowski has no intentions of holding up a major foreign policy vote or international trade legislation over lifting the ban, likely references to the Trans-Pacific Partnershippact being debated in Congress and the upcoming votes on the Iran nuclear deal.
