M.H. Alderson was known as Sodie to his family and friends. Though he never made any earth-shattering accomplishments, he did serve his country in WWII, earning both a purple heart and two bronze stars. After the war finished college and was a small town newspaper publisher for many years. Later, he became director of public relations at Upper Iowa University and Texas Luthern College. He was active in many civic groups, including Freemasons, Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce and was known locally for his inspiring speeches. He died of cancer in 1984.
