Quotes from the news wire:
We kind of just floated through this major outbreak, but we should not let our guard down, I would say, because with BA.5, I expect it will be a very different story.

What I've said throughout this pandemic is if we wait and see, then by the time we're seeing, it's always too late to act, and unfortunately we've been slow to get these out to Americans, i don't think it's too little, too late now, but we should absolutely be doing everything we can right now, so that a month from now, we're not still saying,' We're going to be doing this later.'.

The FDA doesn't really seem to be able to budge. The FDA is such The FDA.

If I'm thinking about the public health, I need a test that's very fast. It doesn't need to be as sensitive as a PCR test.

If there are too many people doing that, there are no safe places anymore.

If I was not vaccinated, I would not want to be next to someone who is vaccinated and positive.

Even if everyone else in that place is vaccinated, there may be vulnerable people where immunity has waned or they never took to( the vaccine) well.

We don't have the legal framework or the regulatory framework to think of a test in United States as a public health tool, only as a medical diagnostic tool.

For less than.1 % of what this virus is costing America, every American could have a whole slew of these tests in their homes.

If we actually got these tests into the average American's home and we asked every American to use a test twice a week, it takes 30 seconds to use -- as you brush your teeth, you use a Covid test -- that would be enough to empower people to know their status, and if they are positive, they would be able to essentially know that they're positive and make the appropriate changes.

We have the FDA that is kind of all controlling in some ways of what tests are available, the The FDA, unfortunately, only has a single lens through which to look at a coronavirus test. Their only mandate, when it comes to testing, is to evaluate medical diagnostic tests.

I think this test is the most equitable way to approach fighting this pandemic today. It is a test that can truly be scaled to every household, rich or poor. People can use it on their own terms, regardless of any politics, regardless of how they feel about this virus. You know, and if people don't want to use it, that's their prerogative. But as long as we can get a large number of people using it twice a week, we can actually start to really contain this virus.

Five bucks is a good price. And it's the right price that if Congress appropriates $5 or $10 billion, we could really, really make a major, major difference in this pandemic with that amount of money still giving the companies what they want.

The surveillance PCR testing that we've been doing, like I said, it catches about 5% of people in time to act and it's extremely difficult to scale up PCR much.

You pick up your iPhone if you want and do a one-click reporting if you want, and if not, you keep it to yourself and you yourself know that you're infectious today. And so, you won't go visit your grandma in the nursing home, maybe you won't go to church, maybe you won't eat lunch with your buddies, but it's on your terms.

Let's say it's a Monday or on Day Zero you get exposed. Day three, you might turn positive on a PCR later that night. Day three and a half or maybe early day four you might turn positive on an antigen test. And so, the whole idea of twice a week is to shave off a considerable part of people's infectious course, and so, if you're using it twice a week, even if you turn positive in the middle of your two tests, by the time you do test, especially because it's rapid, you'll be able to pull yourself out when you've only been spreading for one and a half or two days instead of five days and six days.
