Continuing to teach kids water safety is a huge importance. I mean, it’s a big part with my son now as well. Just making sure everyone is safe around the pool, especially now being in the summer, i think too many kids are drowning and it’s something that we need to change and help.

I mean I’ll go and swim from time to time just to kind of decompress and get away, but I don’t miss the grind of that. I mean, it’s probably easier than doing what I’m doing now, i would say training for the Olympics is easier than living a normal life where I’m outside of the pool most of the time.

It was honestly just something I’ve always wanted to do, being in the water with a shark, whether it’s in a cage, or just swimming freely in the ocean. … Having the chance to literally see these animals up close and personal in their home, it topped so many things that I’ve done -- just being able to see how they truly are.

We were able to add some help with the monofin, and being able to have a wetsuit gave a little bit of help towards me, i think the odds are pretty stacked in the shark’s favor, but you guys will have to wait and see, to see what happens.

You can tell she is very goal oriented, and for me it brought me back to kind of what I was like way, way, way back in the day, every time she gets in the water, it's like a world record, so she is improving so much and I think she is just trying to push that barrier.

I didn't feel good the first two swims, didn't really feel good tonight but getting on the team was the most important thing and that was the only thing I had to do tonight, i tried to take it out and just prayed to God I was going to be able to hang on.

I think for us being as strong of a swimming country as we are, I think there's probably more pressure at Trials than the Games, we have almost 2,000 people here, and a maximum of 52 will make the team, so it's a pretty small chance.

We haven't really seen much progression in this event over the last couple of years, i came into tonight wanting to do 1:57 and I did it. I'm not sure what's going to happen over the next year, but I'm just happy to do that( 1:57) because I think it's going to help me a lot in the 100.

It’s just frustrating not setting Michael Phelps up like I should have, what I want most is to be racing the competition I need to be racing. I want to race Ryan and those guys. It’s frustrating falling short.
