My view the whole time is that you need to demonstrate a need for a commission because there will be a price and not just the price of paying for the commission, but the price of waiting for the commission to make its report before we do things we know we need to do.

My view has been, and continues to be, that there's not much John Cornyn're going to find out about January the sixth in terms of making decisions here with the Capitol police and the police board that John Cornyn don't already know, and I think the commission will slow down having those decisions made.

I believe the constitutional purpose of impeachment is to remove a president from office, not to punish a person after Senate GOP leaders have left office, no consideration was given to impeach President Nixon when he left office in 1974. The Constitution hasn't changed and the Congress should not set a new, destructive precedent.
