Obviously being the head coach of the Celtics is a great responsibility. As I’ve said all along, he’s our engine. For us the big thing is take care of home court, take care of the game that we have at hand. If we take care of the little things, the big thing will take care of itself, but I think it is important for everyone to understand the business, who’s in it, how every game impacts something. So I want them studying the league as well.

It’s obviously someone that I’m familiar with and we’ve been through a lot of things together, but the biggest part is what I felt he can contribute to our team. And I’ve always been partial to good players. If someone is a good player, I’m interested. And I think he’ll add a lot to our team. I know his character. I know the type of teammate he is.

I think he’s learned a lot about how to manage his body, i think he’s in great shape. He’s lighter than he’s ever been. So, I think he’ll have a great impact on our young guys in terms of how to navigate the league, how to overcome adversity, that sort of thing — and understanding the game.
