What our deputies did not know at the time was that David Ward was not only the owner of the car, but the victim of the earlier carjacking, the suspect had pistol-whipped him and stole his car. David Ward had recovered the car but failed to report it. It remains a mystery as to why David Ward fled from our deputies.
