Raman co-founded a homelessness nonprofit in Los Angeles, and was the executive director of Time's Up Entertainment. Raman is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.Raman mounted a campaign against incumbent David Ryu for Los Angeles City Council in the 4th District in 2020. Raman was officially declared the winner on November 6, 2020.
