Jadeveon Davarus Clowney ( jə-DEV-ee-on; born February 14, 1993) is an American football defensive end for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, he attended South Pointe High School before playing college football for the Gamecocks at the University of South Carolina. As a sophomore there in 2012, he earned conference defensive player of the year honors and was named a unanimous All-American after he set single-season school records in quarterback sacks (13) and tackles for loss (23.5). A highly touted prospect, Clowney was selected first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft and played for them for five seasons, making three Pro Bowls before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2019. He then played with the Tennessee Titans in 2020 before joining the Browns in 2021.
