A Killer Among Friends

Det. Patricia Staley:
Why can't you just let us do our job?

Jean Monroe:
Because you're not doing it!

Jean Monroe:
Shut up about God! What kind of God takes a beautiful girl like her? I blame God!

Carla Lewis:
She deserved it for screwing my boyfriend.

Ellen Holloway:
Celeste woke up and she said, "Jenny's in the water, Jenny got hit by a rock."

Jean Monroe:
Hey! You tried to run down my daughter?

Mickey:
[scoffs] The hell is your problem?

Jean Monroe:
You said you were gonna kill her, and now she's dead!

Ellen Holloway:
He's the one, Jean!

Jean Monroe:
Come on, we're going to the police.

Mickey:
[pushes away] You're crazy, you know that?

Jean Monroe:
Ooh, you don't know how crazy.

Mickey:
I've got some ABC-type information for you lady: you're daughter thought she was too good for us, when in reality, she was nothing but a stuck-up little b*tch. She got what she deserved!

[Jean pushes Mickey through the store window]

Jean Monroe:
[after hearing the tape] I taught those girls how to swim, to drive, everything. Those girls were my daughter's best friends.

Det. Patricia Staley:
On the surface - inside Ellen was burning up with jealousy. Jenny was everthing she wasn't, and could never be.

Jean Monroe:
What about Carla?

Det. Patricia Staley:
Carla's the follower; she was Ellen's puppet.

Jean Monroe:
Like I became Ellen's puppet? I mean, my God! To move into my, become my daughter?

Det. Patricia Staley:
Mmm, sick. That was the other thing: Jenny wasn't enough, she wanted Jenny's mother.

Jean Monroe:
I loved her like she was my own.

Det. Patricia Staley:
She's brilliant, diabolical. She moved into your house so she could watch you suffer. And it gave her the opportunity to misdirect the investigation.

Jean Monroe:
Every time I paid less attention or even when I told her she was under suspicion, she went right into her act. How could I be so stupid?

Det. Patricia Staley:
Don't blame yourself, she fooled a lot of people. You're a loving, trusting person, just like Jenny.

Jean Monroe:
And that's what got her killed, isn't it?

Det. Patricia Staley:
No, she trusted and loved the wrong people.

Kathy Pearl:
You see, when somebody dies, they're not the only ones who suffer. I never knew that... [cries]... until my brother died.
