Aliens: Colonial Marines

Aliens: Colonial Marines

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter developed by Gearbox Software and based on the Alien science fiction film series. It was published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2013. A sequel to James Cameron's 1986 film Aliens, the game follows a group of Colonial Marines, a fictional military unit, as they confront the Weyland-Yutani corporation in an effort to rescue survivors from the Sulaco spaceship. The game features a campaign mode that supports both single-player and cooperative gameplay, and a multiplayer mode in which players compete in different scenarios. Colonial Marines was developed over six years and suffered from a tumultuous development. Because Gearbox decided to focus on other projects like Duke Nukem Forever and Borderlands 2, they outsourced a significant part of the game to other studios. The game was heavily inspired by Cameron's film. Concept artist Syd Mead, who collaborated with Cameron to design the Sulaco, was hired to design locations. Four downloadable content packs were released, adding multiplayer maps, a new cooperative mode, and a new campaign mode that takes place before the campaign of the base game. Colonial Marines sold more than one million copies, but received negative reviews due to its technical problems, low-quality graphics, and the weak enemy artificial intelligence; the competitive multiplayer mode was highlighted as its strongest aspect. Colonial Marines drew controversy because it featured a lower graphical quality than that of press demos. In April 2013, two players filed a lawsuit, claiming that Gearbox and Sega had falsely advertised the game, but it lost class-action status in 2015.

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
[the door opens, and O'Neal spots a scientist and slams him into a wall and then pins him to the operating table] You make a f***in' sound. Your brains are what they find in the garbage tomorrow, not if you understand a**hole. [to Bella] Bella, lay down on the table. [Winter helps Bella on the operating table] She had uh, she had one of those Facehuggers, it left a baby one in her chest, how do you get it out?

Weyland-Yutani Scentist:
You, you, you, you can't.

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
Wrong answer!

Weyland-Yutani Scentist:
Please, please, please, please, please, please. Trust me. We tried to remove the gestated lifeform.

Pvt. Bella Clarison:
O'Neal, just let him speak. It's okay. [O'Neal lets the scientist go]

Weyland-Yutani Scientist:
The Embryo will extract food and nutrients from the host to construct a placenta, but it's not like a human's. This placenta is like a weed, rooting itself to every organ inside the chest cavity. Even if you surgically remove the Embryo, the placenta is, it's like a cancer. Your organs will begin shutting down one-by-one, you just, you just die.

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
Winter, knock him out. [Winter knocks out the scientist]

Pvt. Bella Clarison:
O'Neal. I can't... is it hot in here?

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
Hey, hey Bella.

Pvt. Bella Clarison:
Hey, Nugget.

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
Everything's gonna be okay. Just, close your eyes.

Pvt. Bella Clarison:
You get that Marine. You promise? Get everyone off the planet.

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
Oorah to ashes, Bella.

Pvt. Bella Clarison:
Oorah to... [Bella then screams in pain as a Chestburster comes out of Bella, and O'Neal shoots the Chestburster]

Pvt. Peter O'Neal:
That was our agreement. [Closes Bella's eyes]
