[David has been seen having dinner with the wife of a business colleague]

Don Mitchell:
Are you seeing this girl?

Dora Mitchell:
I think he is.

Don Mitchell:
[to Dora] One more word out of you, Dora, and you're out on the landing.

Don Mitchell:
[to David] Are you?

David Mitchell:
[pause] No, Dad, I'm not.

Don Mitchell:
[to Dora] There you are, love. There's your answer.

Dora Mitchell:
And you believe him?

Don Mitchell:
Yes I do. And so do you because I am telling you to.

[Don has remortgaged his house to help David buy into a money-making scheme, but David's business partner has just disappeared with the money]

Don Mitchell:
That was my life's savings. I might just as well have burned the bloody stuff. At least I'd have got five minutes of warmth out of it.
