Coronado 9

[first lines]

Dan Adams:
All the cablegram stated was the size of the fee and that Patrick Conlan had a job for me. It didn't say what the job was. The size of that fat fee should have made me give it a second thought, but London is one of my favorite cities in the world, so not too many hours later I was passing though Waterloo Station. Most of these people are going to work, but with a difference - they knew what their jobs would be when they got there.

Patrick Conlon:
I made a lot of enemies in the old days - some of them I buried; some tried to bury me.

Dan Adams:
All right, but if I find out you are mixed up in anything out of bounds, you won't be able to tell Dan Adams from the police - even with a scorecard.

Harry:
We have a message for your father. We'd like to keep it private... in the family.

Patricia Conlon:
My father isn't here!

Harry:
He'll *get* the message.

[the thug pools a bottle of acid from his coat]

Patricia Conlon:
What's that?

Harry:
It's not a beauty treatment.

[Dan has just rescued Patricia from two thugs who planned to disfigure her face with acid]

Patricia Conlon:
Why you two-faced thing. You're no more a handyman than I am!

Dan Adams:
I thought I was pretty handy.

Patricia Conlon:
You're a policeman or a body guard or something.

Dan Adams:
I'm not a policeman and I don't know why the body needed guarding.

Patricia Conlon:
Who hired you and why?

Dan Adams:
Well, your jaw's not broken, that's for sure!

Patrick Conlon:
We're leaving the police out of it, aren't we, Mr. Adams?

Dan Adams:
No, I'm playing a command performance for Scotland Yard in half an hour, Mr. Conlan.

Patrick Conlon:
Why should Scotland Yard be interested?

Dan Adams:
Well, I killed a man. They want to see my hunting license.

Patrick Conlon:
Don't let anything happen to her. The Almighty wouldn't let anything happen to my girl.

Dan Adams:
I think you'd do better to ask Scotland Yard for help. The Almighty knows your record.

Hocker:
The inspector doesn't like you going it alone to get the girl back. He doesn't like it a bit.

Dan Adams:
The inspector wouldn't like it if the girl didn't come out of it alive, either.

Hocker:
Nooo, he wouldn't like that, either. He wouldn't like that a bit.

[after rescuing Patricia from the kidnappers, Dan pulls the gag from her mouth]

Patricia Conlon:
Where have you been? Where are the police? What kind of bodyguard are you anyway, letting those dreadful people grab me right under your nose, bringing me to this awful place!

[Dan pulls the gag back over Patricia's mouth]

Dan Adams:
Now look, Irish, there are a couple of points I want to make about you and your father and how you got here in absolute quiet!

[last lines]

Patricia Conlon:
What are they going to do to him now? What'll they do? You aren't going to testify against him will you? He was so fond of you.

Dan Adams:
Irish, he wouldn't be tough old Patrick Conlan if he didn't try to stop me from going to the police... and i wouldn't be Dan Adams if I didn't testify against him.
