Detective Ariana Sanchez:
Hey, do you think most people know who they are?

Detective Louis Fitch:
I think most people know exactly who they are. They just don't want anybody to find out.

[first lines]

Detective Damon Washington:
Tea, never would have figured you for a tea guy.

Detective Louis Fitch:
I never would have figured you for a detective, yet here we are.

Detective Louis Fitch:
Your daughter is impeding an investigation.

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
I've already talked to her.

Detective Louis Fitch:
Talk to her again.

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
She said she doesn't know anything.

Detective Louis Fitch:
She's lying. She knows a lot more than she's saying. [Mason just looks at him] With all due respect, we've got to look into every lead.

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
My daughter is not a *lead*.

Simone Mason:
[Lt. Mason and her daughter are in the middle of an argument in the womens locker room]... Nothing, I already told you, okay?

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
Simone.

Simone Mason:
What? Just because I don't think Lance killed Kandace, means I know who did?

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
Do you have any idea who it could be?

Simone Mason:
Are you asking me as a Lieutenant or my mom?

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
Both.

Simone Mason:
Y-you know what kids call me at school? Narc. Or, 'Here comes the 'Snitch-B*tch'.' No one wants me at their parties because they think that if they pull out a beer or something, I'm going to run home and tell mommy.

Lieutenant Maureen Mason:
I know it doesn't mean much now, but in the long run none of this is gonna matter. Most of these kids you won't even see after high school. But you know what's gonna stick with you? What you did when you had the chance to do the right thing. It's okay if you don't tell me, but tell *somebody*. [She starts to walk away, and turns back] I didn't raise you to be afraid.

Detective Louis Fitch:
[Fitch interrupts Malloy's meal at a restaurant] Who's Sally Ellison?

[Malloy looks bewildered]

Detective Louis Fitch:
*Who* is Sally Ellison?

Henry Malloy:
Sit down, have a martini.

Detective Louis Fitch:
[Fitch dips his fingers into one of the martinis, tastes it and smacks his lips] It's too dirty for me.

Henry Malloy:
Would you like to speak in private? Here, let me give you my card, and...

Detective Louis Fitch:
I know what happened. I know what you did. What's one small death when you're building an empire?

Henry Malloy:
Look out there - schools, libraries. I've helped put up more than you can count. I've donated wings to hospitals, made safer parks for kids. Yet *you* have the audacity to walk in here disturb my evening with your naive theories?

Detective Louis Fitch:
Okay, I'll take that to mean you did know who she was. I won't stop, okay? I don't care what the record says. To me, the case is open.

Henry Malloy:
You think you know me. I know you. I know what happened in New York. I know what brought you to our fair city all those years ago.

Detective Louis Fitch:
If you *really* knew what happened in New York, you'd be crapping in your pants right now. [Fitch walks out of the restaurant]

[Looking over the murder board with Washington, where victims' names are in red or black according to their status]

Det. Louis Fitch:
Get 'em solved. Make room for the next one. We might be the last assembly line in Detroit.

Det. Ariana Sanchez:
[to an officer who doesn't live in the city of Detroit] Commuter cop, eh? I grew up four blocks from here. Every time I get a call from here, I'm praying it's not someone I know.

Sergeant Jesse Longford:
I've been a cop here for so long that when I first started, half the suspects were white!

Detective Louis Fitch:
[Fitch looks closely at the Grand Canyon paperweight on his desk] Did you touch my scorpion?

Detective Damon Washington:
No.

Detective Louis Fitch:
Well, somebody did. When I left, the stinger was pointing north, and now it's the other way.

Detective Damon Washington:
[Gesturing wordlessly] Fine, I picked it up.

Detective Louis Fitch:
Why would you do that?

Detective Damon Washington:
Look at your desk. You got a computer and a phone, not a single personal artifact. Then that... thing appears. How am I *not* gonna pick it up?

Detective Louis Fitch:
You control yourself, like a grown man.

Detective Damon Washington:
Come on.

Detective Louis Fitch:
If you touch anything on my desk, I will chop off your hands. I'll lock 'em in the gun safe. [He picks up the paperweight and slams it down as he repositions it, then walks off]

Detective Damon Washington:
Roger that.

[last lines]

Detective Damon Washington:
Ca-can I ask you about the paperweight? It's *just* killing me.

Detective Louis Fitch:
What would you like to know?

Detective Damon Washington:
What does it *mean*? Did you go to the Grand Canyon? You got people out there? Somebody sent it to you? Hell, if it's just your favorite canyon, or whatever, that's cool. I just - I gotta know. What's up with the paperweight? Seriously.

Detective Louis Fitch:
[laughs and claps his hands once] Why did you choose 'Crazy' to be my song on your phone?

Detective Damon Washington:
Are you still thinking about that? I just picked a Country song - it's a white boy thing.

Detective Louis Fitch:
Oh, still, but 'Crazy', that's very specific.

Detective Damon Washington:
You're reading way too much into that.

Detective Louis Fitch:
Am I?

Detective Damon Washington:
'Crazy' is actually a love song. So if you wanna pull that thread, this conversation's gonna get real weird, real quick.
