Cid Highwind:
I don't care if it's science or magical power. No, come to think of it, if I had to, I'd put my faith in science. Eventually... all humans die. What happens to them after they die? The body decomposes, and returns to the Planet. That much everyone knows. What about their consciousness, their hearts and their souls? The soul too returns to the Planet. And not only those of humans, but everything on this Planet. In fact, all living things in the universe, are the same. The spirits that return to the Planet, merge with one another and roam the Planet. They roam, converge, and divide, becoming a swell, called the 'Lifestream'. Lifestream... In other words, a path of energy of the souls roaming the Planet.

Palmer:

Only death awaits you all. But do not fear. For it is through death that a new spirit energy is born. Soon, you will live again as a part of me.

Sephiroth:
It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury... What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet? Think how much energy would be gathered! Ha ha ha. And at the center of that injury, will be me. All that boundless energy will be mine. By merging with all the energy of the Planet, I will become a new life form, a new existence. Melding with the Planet... I will cease to exist as I am now... Only to be reborn as a 'God' to rule over every soul.

Cloud Strife:

[Clound, Barret, Tifa looks around and sees debris in the playground, they look at Sector 7 gate and sees it in ruins. Barret runs to the ruined gate and examines it] Marlene! MARLENE! MAR - LE - NE!

Barret Wallace:
Biggs! Wedge! Jessie! Goddamn it! Dammit! DAMMIT ALL TO HELL! What the hell's it all for? ARGGHHHH! [Barret punches the metal debris]

Cloud Strife:
Hey Barret!

Tifa Lockheart:
Barret!

Barret Wallace:
ARGGHHHH! [Cloud and Tifa run up right next to him]

Cloud Strife:
Hey!

Tifa Lockheart:
Barret, stop... Please stop, Barret.

Barret Wallace:
URGHHHH! God damn... [Barret shoots at the ruined debris]

Barret Wallace:
Marlene...

Tifa Lockheart:
...Barret...? Marlene is... I think Marlene is safe.

Barret Wallace:
...Huh?.

Tifa Lockheart:
Right before they took Aeris, she said, 'Don't worry, she's all right.' She was probably talking about Marlene

Barret Wallace:

Tifa Lockheart:

Barret Wallace:
Biggs... Wedge... Jessie...

Cloud Strife:
All three of them were in the pillar.

Barret Wallace:
Think I don't know that? But... we, all of us fought together. I don't wanna think of them as dead!

Tifa Lockheart:
...And the other people in Sector 7.

Barret Wallace:
This is all screwed up! They destroyed an entire village just to get to us! They killed so many people...

Tifa Lockheart:
...are you saying it's our fault? Because AVALANCHE was here? Innocent people lost their lives because of us? [Barret shakes his head no and swings his arm]

Barret Wallace:
No, Tifa! That ain't it! Hell no! It ain't us! It's the damn Shinra! It's never been nobody but the Shinra! They're evil and destroyin' our planet just to... build their power and line their own damn pockets with gold! If we don't get rid of them, they're gonna kill this planet! Our fight ain't never gonna be over until we get rid of them!

Tifa Lockheart:
...I don't know.

Barret Wallace:
What don't you know? You don't believe me?

Tifa Lockheart:
It's not that. I'm not sure about... me. My feelings.

Barret Wallace:
An' what about you? [Barret looks at Cloud who's thinking]

Cloud Strife:
...[Cloud ignores Barret and walks off]

Barret Wallace:
Yo! Where's he think he's goin'?

Tifa Lockheart:
Oh! Aeris!

Barret Wallace:
Oh yeah, that girl. What's up with her?

Tifa Lockheart:
...I don't really know... But she's the one I left Marlene with.

Barret Wallace:
Damn! Marlene! [Barret runs to the exit of the playground, he stops and quickly looks at Tifa]

Barret Wallace:
Tifa. There ain't no turnin' back now. [Barret and Tifa both run out of the playground area]
