[to Courtney while doing her hair] Just sit still and shut up.

Courtney Simpson:
Strange, isn't it? We almost never get to see each other now that we're living in different places. I mean, they're only 5 blocks apart.

Billy Simpson:
Yeah, of course! When we did live together, We spent half the time fighting.

Courtney Simpson:
I guess but that can be reassuring sometimes. So, listen, maybe you feel like doing something after school today.

Billy Simpson:
I don't know. Maybe.

Courtney Simpson:
Look, you're not still beating yourself up about Dylan's concert, are you?

Billy Simpson:
I've told you, it was all my fault that it got cancelled.

Courtney Simpson:
And I've told you that it wasn't your fault.

Billy Simpson:
Dylan asked me to turn in his math assignment and I totally forgot about it.

Courtney Simpson:
He should have turned it in himself instead of skipping a day of school.

Billy Simpson:
We were really starting to be friends. Now he can't stand me.

Courtney Simpson:
Oh, Billy!

Billy Simpson:
You heard what he said to me at the party. He just yelled and it was too late for me to apologize.

Courtney Simpson:
It wasn't your fault. Besides, who cares what Dylan thinks?

Billy Simpson:
I care.

Courtney Simpson:
Well then stop caring. He isn't worth it, Billy. He isn't worth having a friend in the first place.

Dylan Blackwell:
[after Billy leaves] Listen, I couldn't help hearing what you just said.

Courtney Simpson:
Good! [also leaves]

Matt Walker:
Ashley and Matt have a big fight about Matt's drinking problem and break up

Ashley Frasier:
So, here you are. I thought you were gonna come at 4:30.

Matt Walker:
I needed to go for a walk to calm myself down a little. It didn't work.

Ashley Frasier:
What's wrong?

Matt Walker:
[sarcastically] Oh, that's good. That's really good. The innocent routine.

Ashley Frasier:
What are you talking about?

Matt Walker:
You know perfectly well.

Ashley Frasier:
Matt, I don't have a clue.

Matt Walker:
I asked you not to mention what happened on Friday night. And what did you do? You went out spreading it all over the school.

Ashley Frasier:
What?

Matt Walker:
That's it. We're finished Ashley. I don't ever want to talk to you again. Ever!

Matt Walker:
Do I have to keep telling you until I'm blue in the face? I don't want to talk about it.

Ashley Frasier:
Matt.

Ashley Frasier:
Look, I went out. I had a few drinks and I blew off a little steam. So what?

Ashley Frasier:
You didn't just have a few drinks. You got fallen down drunk in the park.

Matt Walker:
Oh, here we go again.

Ashley Frasier:
Thank goodness, Jake found out about it and went to help. Otherwise who knows what would have happened?

Matt Walker:
I did not get falling down drunk.

Ashley Frasier:
What else would you call it? When I got there, you were flat on your face throwing up.

Matt Walker:
[chuckles] Give me a break.

Ashley Frasier:
We had to half carry you home and sneak you in through the basement door so your parents wouldn't see you.

Matt Walker:
So this is the first time in the history of the world that a guy has had a little too much to drink?

Ashley Frasier:
No! And it isn't the first time you have had a little too much to drink either. Matt, if you only could have seen yourself.

Matt Walker:
OK, I was kind of buzzed.

Ashley Frasier:
No, you weren't! You were pathetic.

Matt Walker:
[sarcastically] Thanks, Ashley. Rub my face in it.

Ashley Frasier:
Matt, listen to me.

Matt Walker:
No, you listen. This subject is closed. This is the last time we're gonna discuss it and you're not gonna mention it to anyone else.

Ashley Frasier:
Of course, I'm not gonna mention it to anyone else but you can't keep pretending.

Matt Walker:
I told you this subject is closed.

Ashley Frasier:
Matt, I'm only trying to help but at times like this, I honestly do not know why I even bother.

Kelly:
Brooke, I've been looking all over for you.

Brooke Morgan:
Here I am.

Kelly:
You are not gonna believe what I found out.

Brooke Morgan:
He's my geography assignment. Give it to your sister for me, would you?

Kelly:
Forget about geography.

Brooke Morgan:
I'll pay her $10.00 tomorrow and she'll get the other 10.

Kelly:
Brooke, listen to me. I found out what happened on Friday night.

Brooke Morgan:
You mean with Matt?

Kelly:
It's incredible. I mean it's totally incredible.

Brooke Morgan:
What is it?

Kelly:
You're absolutely not gonna believe it.

Brooke Morgan:
Kelly!

Kelly:
It turns out Matt's a hopeless alcoholic.

Brooke Morgan:
What?

Kelly:
He was dead drunk on Friday night and apparently he does this all the time.

Brooke Morgan:
You're kidding.

Kelly:
I didn't get the whole story but it sounds like he nearly died of alcohol poisoning.

Brooke Morgan:
Where did you hear this?

Kelly:
From Jake and Ashley, Matt's best friend and little miss perfect.

Brooke Morgan:
You mean they actually told you? Hang on. Where are you going?

Kelly:
Oh, nowhere. Nowhere at all.

Matt Walker:
[to Ashley about showing up late] I thought that was supposed to be a short meeting.

Ashley Frasier:
So did I. Sorry, I should know better by now. When the yearbook committee meets, it's not short.

Matt Walker:
So, are you finished now?

Ashley Frasier:
Not yet. That's what I came to tell you. This thing looks like it could go on for another hour.

Matt Walker:
[sarcastically] Oh, that's great.

Ashley Frasier:
So, there's no pint in only hanging around.

Matt Walker:
Another hour? OK, I'll tell you what. Why don't I drop back around 4:30?

Ashley Frasier:
Sure! That would be great. We could spend some time together. Just go for a walk. Whatever.

Matt Walker:
See you in an hour then.

Ashley Frasier:
Thanks, Matt.

Brooke Morgan:
Matt, how are you?

Matt Walker:
Hi, Brooke.

Brooke Morgan:
Are you busy or do you have time to join me?

Matt Walker:
I guess. Just killing time basically. So how is it going with you?

Brooke Morgan:
Oh, fine, fine. I guess you've heard. I'm running for student council president.

Matt Walker:
Yeah! I heard somebody talking about that.

Brooke Morgan:
Well, it wasn't my idea really. But so many people were coming up to me and encouraging me to run I... Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be sitting here making chit chat at a time like this.

Matt Walker:
A time like what?

Brooke Morgan:
When you're dealing with so many personal problems.

Brooke Morgan:
What's that supposed to mean?

Brooke Morgan:
Well, we've all heard, Matt about Friday night about your alcohol problem.

Matt Walker:
What?

Brooke Morgan:
It's nothing to be ashamed of, Matt. It's a disease. And don't ever think that your friends will turn against you. We'll stand by you. I promise.

Matt Walker:
Where on earth did you hear about this?

Brooke Morgan:
Well, from Ashley of course. She's really upset so naturally she's telling all of her friends about it asking us for help.

Matt Walker:
She's what?

Brooke Morgan:
Let us help you, Matt. If you ever feel like you need to talk to someone, share something with us and then. [Matt leaves and Kelly comes in] There! That should cause a few complications for little miss perfect.

Kelly:
[on the phone] Hi, it's me. I just wanted to let you know it's all set up. Trust me, it's all set up and I cannot wait to see the look on Brooke's face when she finds out what's happening to her.

Brooke Morgan:
Hi, Ashley!

Kelly:
How is it going?

Ashley Frasier:
Hi!

Brooke Morgan:
So, have you heard the news?

Ashley Frasier:
What news?

Brooke Morgan:
About the election.

Ashley Frasier:
Well, what about it?

Brooke Morgan:
I have decided to run for student council president.

Ashley Frasier:
Yeah? Well, good luck.

Brooke Morgan:
Thanks! I'll probably need it. To tell you the truth, I almost decided not to run. It's not exactly that I didn't think I was capable.

Ashley Frasier:
No, of course not!

Brooke Morgan:
That it's a pretty big job but still, people kept asking me to run. Kept encouraging me.

Kelly:
Dozens of them.

Brooke Morgan:
And I guess I finally made up my mind after I organized the recycling program. Made me realize that I'm... I guess... I'm someone people can really look up to as a leader.

Ashley Frasier:
Right! Well, like I say, good luck.

Brooke Morgan:
And by the way, we were just wondering...

Kelly:
Are you OK?

Ashley Frasier:
Sure? Why wouldn't I be OK?

Brooke Morgan:
Well, we were kind of worried when you and Jake left the party so quickly.

Kelly:
And we kind of wondered if it had anything to do with Matt. I mean if Matt's in some sort of trouble.

Ashley Frasier:
No! No!

Brooke Morgan:
And if you ever need friends to talk about it with...

Ashley Frasier:
That's fine, really. I got to run.

Brooke Morgan:
She's lying.

Kelly:
Totally.

Brooke Morgan:
Through her teeth.

Kelly:
We'll get to the bottom of this.

Ashley Frasier:
I can't believe how far I'm getting behind in class. With all of this stuff about Matt, I can't find the time to study and when I do find time, I can't think straight and I've got this major history test coming up in just a couple of days.

Jake Deosdade:
You'll do OK just like always.

Ashley Frasier:
No! It's different this time. I'm totally imprepared and I don't have a clue when I'll find the time to get prepared. That isn't the point. It's not what I need to talk to you about.

Jake Deosdade:
Matt?

Ashley Frasier:
He's starting to drive me crazy, Jake. What am I supposed to do? What are we supposed to do?

Jake Deosdade:
I just don't know, Ashley. I honestly don't.

Ashley Frasier:
We got to do something. We have been worried about his drinking for ages and then on Friday night seeing him in that condition.

Jake Deosdade:
Well maybe we just have to wait and let Matt calm down a little. Let him start to realize that he does have a really bad drinking problem.

Ashley Frasier:
What if he still won't admit it?

Jake Deosdade:
Then maybe we'll have to do something drastic.

Ashley Frasier:
Like what?

Jake Deosdade:
Like tell his parents.

Ashley Frasier:
We can't do that. He'd never speak to either one of us again.

Jake Deosdade:
I know, but if we really care about him, do we have a choice? I mean we can't just let our friend go down the tubes and if he's drinking like this when he's only 15, what's he gonna be like when he's 18 or 20 or 25?

Ashley Frasier:
You never understand, Jake. He'd hate us.

Jake Deosdade:
I know. But what else can we do?

Ashley Frasier:
I don't think I can handle this anymore.

Jake Deosdade:
Your math test?

Ashley Frasier:
I told you, I couldn't study. I didn't know anything that was gonna be on it. So I made a list.

Jake Deosdade:
How do you mean?

Ashley Frasier:
A list of answers. A cheat sheet, Jake and I took it in and hid it under the exam paper. But Mrs. Tinelli must have seen me because she came over in the middle of the exam and she grabbed it and held it up in front of the whole class. In front of the entire class with everybody staring at me.

Jake Deosdade:
Oh no!

Ashley Frasier:
Then I got sent down to the principal's.

Jake Deosdade:
OK, just wait. I mean, I know how you feel.

Ashley Frasier:
It was awful, Jake. I just wanted to die.

Jake Deosdade:
Maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to do. But even so...

Ashley Frasier:
Don't you understand? I cheated on a test.

Jake Deosdade:
Yeah, I know.

Ashley Frasier:
I cheated, Jake and now everyone knows and they're all gonna think I cheated on everything else too.

Jake Deosdade:
No one's gonna think that.

Ashley Frasier:
How can I look anyone in the eye? And how on earth do I tell my parents?

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley, listen...

Brooke Morgan:
We've heard, Ashley. We both have.

Kelly:
Everybody has.

Jake Deosdade:
Look...

Brooke Morgan:
And we understand. Well, we sort of understand. It's not the end of the world and it's not like everyone's gonna think you're totally a horrible person.

Kelly:
No, no. It's not quite that.

Brooke Morgan:
All the same. I have to tell you, Ashley, I'm awfully disappointed. I really am. Cheating is a very bad thing.

Kelly:
It's dishonest.

Brooke Morgan:
I just never thought you would stoop to something like this.

Kelly:
I'm shocked, Brooke. I really am.

Brooke Morgan:
Of course you are. We're both shocked. We're appalled.

Ashley Frasier:
[telling Jake she just broke up with Matt after having a huge argument with him about his drinking problem] I just can't believe what happened. He accused me of telling the whole school he was an alcoholic and then he said he never wanted to see me again.

Jake Deosdade:
This is incredible.

Ashley Frasier:
And he meant it too. I've never seen his eyes like that. Like he totally hated me.

Jake Deosdade:
But you didn't tell anyone did you? About his drinking?

Ashley Frasier:
Of course not.

Jake Deosdade:
Well, I didn't tell anyone either and we're the only ones who know.

Ashley Frasier:
Then what's going on?

Jake Deosdade:
Well, someone must have seen us at the park on Friday night when Matt was totaled.

Ashley Frasier:
Then wouldn't we have seen them?

Jake Deosdade:
I don't know. But how else? Look, let's not worry about that part right now. We've just got to make Matt realize that you didn't tell anyone.

Ashley Frasier:
Yeah, right.

Jake Deosdade:
I'll talk to him.

Ashley Frasier:
It won't make any difference, Jake. He's convinced I betrayed him.

Jake Deosdade:
Then I'll unconvince him.

Ashley Frasier:
It won't work. You know what he's like.

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley, it has to work and I can't just sit back and let him make these crazy accusations. I mean you're the one who has been standing by him.

Ashley Frasier:
Maybe that's just it. Maybe I just can't stand it anymore. Maybe I don't want to even make up with him.

Jake Deosdade:
You don't mean that.

Ashley Frasier:
I don't know. Right now, I just don't know.

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley?

Ashley Frasier:
Want to hear the really funny part? With all this going on, I'm supposed to be taking a test tomorrow. Major math test. First class after lunch.

Jake Deosdade:
You'll be OK.

Ashley Frasier:
Are you kidding? I don't know any of the stuff. I can't focus. I can't concentrate. I'll be really lucky if I can spell my name right.

Jake Deosdade:
Look, just try to relax.

Ashley Frasier:
That's hilarious! My whole life is in a mess. It's getting worse by this second and I'm supposed to relax? I don't think you understand. I'm gonna fail that test. It's half the mark for the whole term.

Jake Deosdade:
OK, don't relax. But don't panic either.

Ashley Frasier:
Oh, I'm not panicking, Jake. I'm just starting to go crazy. There's a difference.

Jake Deosdade:
Look, we'll take a walk or something.

Ashley Frasier:
I can't.

Jake Deosdade:
Sure, you can.

Ashley Frasier:
No, I can't, Jake! I've got to go study for that test.

Courtney Simpson:
Ashley, how are you doing?

Ashley Frasier:
Awful! I stayed up all night studying for that math test. I didn't get any sleep at all and now I can't even remembered what I studied.

Courtney Simpson:
I wasn't exactly asking about the test.

Ashley Frasier:
Can you believe it? 8 hours of studying gone.

Courtney Simpson:
I was actually asking about you and Matt. I mean is it true what people are saying?

Ashley Frasier:
What are they saying?

Courtney Simpson:
Well, that you and Matt broke up after you had a huge argument about his drinking.

Ashley Frasier:
Who told you this?

Courtney Simpson:
Well, no one told me exactly. I just heard some people talking.

Ashley Frasier:
You mean it's all over the school?

Courtney Simpson:
A lot of people seem to know about it or at least they seem to think they know. Ashley, what's going on?

Ashley Frasier:
Matt and I broke up yesterday afternoon.

Courtney Simpson:
That's awful!

Ashley Frasier:
I guess. I don't know. The way things are going, it was probably bound to happen.

Courtney Simpson:
Then is the rest of it true that Matt's turning into an alcoholic?

Ashley Frasier:
No, I mean, I don't know.

Courtney Simpson:
People are saying...

Ashley Frasier:
I don't care what people are saying! They can say whatever they like! I just want... I got to go to the library.

Jake Deosdade:
[in his second huge argument with Matt about him and Ashley breaking up after having a huge argument with her about his drinking problem]

Matt Walker:
Are you gonna join me?

Jake Deosdade:
Have you heard about Ashley?

Matt Walker:
Hasn't everybody?

Matt Walker:
It sure gets around.

Matt Walker:
Yeah! She cheated on a test which was pretty dumb and she got caught which was even dumber.

Jake Deosdade:
Don't you even care?

Matt Walker:
It doesn't have anything to do with me, does it? Remember? We broke up. Cheating on a test. I never thought Ashley would do something like that. It's amazing to learn about people.

Jake Deosdade:
Do you have any idea how torn up she is?

Matt Walker:
And how do you think I feel? The whole school thinks I'm some sort of alcoholic just because I had a few drinks on Friday night. I've got 300 kids whispering behind my back. How would you like to put up with that?

Jake Deosdade:
Oh, I see. I'm supposed to feel sorry for you am I?

Matt Walker:
You can feel however you like.

Jake Deosdade:
I'm supposed to sit back and sigh while you tell me your troubles, huh? Well forget it. Because I'm sick of it, you jerk.

Matt Walker:
What?

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley tied herself in knots trying to help you and you turn around and dump her. And now that she's having a nervous breakdown, you want sympathy for your troubles? What sort of total jerk are you? Hey, sure. Go ahead, hit me. What a great way to prove you're a man.

Jake Deosdade:
Don't push it, Jake.

Jake Deosdade:
Let me ask you something, buddy. Do you care about anybody but yourself? Anybody?

Kelly:
[on the phone] Hi, it's me. I'm down at the Avalon. You wouldn't believe what just happened. At totally world class shouting matchtween Matt and Jake. No! I'm not kidding. But anyway, that's not what I called to tell you. Listen, I've done it. Yeah! It's all set up. Just another couple of days and Brooke is finally going to get what she deserves.

Kelly:
Brooke.

Brooke Morgan:
What are you doing here?

Kelly:
That doesn't matter. Listen!

Brooke Morgan:
I thought you had a dentist appointment.

Kelly:
Forget about the dentist. Listen to this. It's Ashley.

Brooke Morgan:
What about her?

Brooke Morgan:
Our favorite school girl, little miss perfect, the girl who does every assignment and makes every honor roll.

Brooke Morgan:
I know who Ashley is. What about her?

Kelly:
She just got caught cheating on a test.

Brooke Morgan:
Ashley? [giggles]

Jake Deosdade:
Brooke, you want to know something? If you were a guy, I'd be tempted to bust you in the head.

Jake Deosdade:

Matt, aren't you even gonna listen? I'm telling you the truth. Ashley didn't say anything to anyone.

Matt Walker:

Jake Deosdade:
Well, she does, of course.

Matt Walker:
Yeah, right! And what else would she say?

Jake Deosdade:
I don't believe this.

Matt Walker:
Look, there are 2 people who could have spread stories about what happened on Friday night. One of them is Ashley. The other one is you.

Jake Deosdade:
Oh, get real. You think I ran around telling people?

Matt Walker:
I don't know. You tell me.

Jake Deosdade:
Of course I didn't.

Matt Walker:
So that proves it then, doesn't it? It had to be Ashley.

Jake Deosdade:
Matt!

Matt Walker:
I told her not to talk about it and she went right ahead. Well, that's it. We're finished.

Jake Deosdade:
Come on.

Matt Walker:
And while we're at it, I don't need friends who keep trying to take her side. People who start hassling me every time I have a beer. So make your decision, Jake. Either you're my friend or you're not.

Brooke Morgan:
[sees Ashley studying for her math test] Am I interrupting something?

Ashley Frasier:
No, no, of course not! I was just studying for my math test.

Brooke Morgan:
Ashley, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am.

Ashley Frasier:
About what?

Brooke Morgan:
You know what I mean. I was just devastated to hear that you had broken up with Matt or Matt had broken up with you.

Ashley Frasier:
I guess these things happen.

Brooke Morgan:
I know but it's awful when they do.

Ashley Frasier:
Look, I'm really kind of busy and I don't really feel like talking about this anyway.

Brooke Morgan:
[won't shut up] I understand but it's never good to keep these things bottled up inside. At times like this, you gotta let your friends help you.

Ashley Frasier:
Brooke, really.

Brooke Morgan:
[still won't shut up] The worst part of it all, how long have you known that Matt's an alcoholic?

Ashley Frasier:
Who told you that?

Brooke Morgan:
[still won't shut up] No! You don't need to pretend, Everybody knows. Poor Matt. But it's worse for you in a way.

Ashley Frasier:
Would you please leave me alone?

Brooke Morgan:
[still won't shut up] I mean, you have probably known about this for ages and you have been covering up for him all this time.

Ashley Frasier:
Just leave me alone, OK? I'm busy and I don't want to talk about it! So just keep your nose out of my life! [storms out to study for her math test somewhere else]

Brooke Morgan:
[to Olaf] Well, she's turning into quite the little witch, isn't she?

Olaf:
What happened?

Brooke Morgan:
You heard exactly what happened. She started bellowing at me for no reason at all. Breaking up with your boyfriend does not give you the right to start treating other people like dirt.

Olaf:
Ashley and Matt broke up?

Brooke Morgan:
Which rock have you been living under?

Olaf:
I beg your pardon?

Brooke Morgan:
Everyone knew, Yesterday afternoon, they had a big fight about Matt's drinking and then boom went the relationship.

Olaf:
I didn't know Matt had a drinking problem.

Brooke Morgan:
Oh, terrible problem. Tragic, really. Oh well, it's nothing we have to deal with.

Courtney Simpson:
Hi, Cyndi!

Cyndi:
Good morning.

Courtney Simpson:
What are you doing?

Cyndi:
Just trying to raise a few people's consciousness.

Courtney Simpson:
Oh, right.

Cyndi:
Feel like giving me a hand?

Courtney Simpson:

I didn't think so.

Courtney Simpson:
It's just that I kind of have some homework to do.

Cyndi:
Oh, of course you do and it's only the planet that's at stake. Have a nice day.

Brooke Morgan:
[realizing she and Matt are caught by Ashley who thinks Matt is two timing her] Oh no!

Matt Walker:
Ashley?

Ashley Frasier:
I thought you cancelled our date so you could see Jake.

Matt Walker:
I did.

Ashley Frasier:
Sure you did and I actually believed you.

Matt Walker:
No! Listen, I can explain.

Ashley Frasier:
Don't bother!

Matt Walker:
Ashley!

Ashley Frasier:
Don't even bother talking to me ever! [runs off]

Matt Walker:
[runs after her while Kelly and Brooke sinisterly smile at each other] Ashley, wait!

Ashley Frasier:
10 laps! I have never run so much in my entire life.

Dylan Blackwell:
Well, if you're gonna turn into a juvenile delinquent who skips classes, you gotta expect this sort of thing.

Ashley Frasier:
No one makes you run laps when you skip class?

Dylan Blackwell:
No! They've pretty much given up owith me. You see, I've got this major attitude problem. [sees Matt coming] Ooh, the boyfriend's back. I better get lost.

Matt Walker:
What are you doing here?

Dylan Blackwell:
Just passing through, man. Total innocent. Trust me. [to Ashley] See you some other time sweetheart. [leaves]

Matt Walker:
[feeling jealous] You've been talking to him?

Ashley Frasier:
We talked for about 30 seconds. So how was basketball practice?

Matt Walker:
It could have been worse. At least Williams didn't spend the whole 2 hours on my case.

Ashley Frasier:
Well forget about basketball. It's Friday afternoon and I'm really looking forward to that movie tonight.

Matt Walker:
Oh, right. Look, I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it.

Ashley Frasier:
But we have been planning this all week.

Matt Walker:
I know but it's Jake.

Ashley Frasier:
What about Jake?

Matt Walker:
I swung by my place on the way down. There was a note taped on the front door. Jake says he needs to see me tonight. It's important.

Ashley Frasier:
Why can't you call him?

Matt Walker:
I tried. He's not home.

Ashley Frasier:
Can't you see him tomorrow instead?

Matt Walker:
The note said it's important, Ashley and he is my best friend.

Ashley Frasier:
I know and I'm sorry. I'm just kind of disappointed.

Matt Walker:
Look, we'll see the movie another time.

Ashley Frasier:
Sure!

Matt Walker:
I promise.

Ashley Frasier:
OK!

Theresa Morgan:
Student Council President? Is Brooke actually serious about that?

Kelly:
She's not only serious. She has got her heart set on it. She gets one A+ on a paper somebody else wrote for her and all of a sudden she decides she's a student leader.

Theresa Morgan:
It's totally bizarre.

Kelly:
That's Brooke.

Theresa Morgan:
I always looked up to her. Always! How could I have been so blind?

Kelly:
You're her little sister.

Theresa Morgan:
I mean, I knew she can be a little snobby. A little stuck up. But I didn't know she was...

Kelly:
A total egomaniac?

Theresa Morgan:
It's bizarre.

Kelly:
Well Brooke's friends have always known what Brooke's like.

Theresa Morgan:
You know what's really bizarre? She'll probably get elected.

Kelly:
You think so?

Theresa Morgan:
Why not? Brooke always get what she wants.

Kelly:
Maybe on the other hand, the election is still a couple of weeks away which means there's still plenty of time for something to go wrong.

Theresa Morgan:
What's that supposed to mean?

Kelly:
Oh nothing. Nothing in particular. Just an observation. But why don't we just wait and see what happens?

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley, wait!

Ashley Frasier:
Not now, Jake. This is important.

Jake Deosdade:
No! This is important.

Ashley Frasier:
What's going on?

Jake Deosdade:
It's Matt.

Ashley Frasier:
Where is he? Did something happen? Jake, what is it?

Jake Deosdade:
He's in trouble. He's in really bad trouble and we don't have time to talk. You've got to come with me now.

Brooke Morgan:
[after she lost her job as student council president] Totally ruined! Totally humiliated in front of the whole school! And Kelly set it up! She pretends to be my friend and then she turns around and stabs me in the back!

Theresa Morgan:
Maybe there's some sort of explanation.

Brooke Morgan:
Of course there's an explanation! Kelly planned the whole thing! She stole Olaf's notes, then she gave them to her sister, her sister used them to write my paper. Kelly put them in my locker and phoned the principal. How could she do this to me? How could she smile in my face and then turn around and then...?

Brooke Morgan:
[starts to cry needing help]

Brooke Morgan:
What am I supposed to do? I'm the laughing stock in front of the entire school. Theresa, what am I supposed to do?

Theresa Morgan:
I'm really sorry. I have to go.

Brooke Morgan:
[still crying] Please.

Theresa Morgan:
I'm sorry.

Theresa Morgan:
[leaves Brooke in tears and Brooke starts to throw a pillow but doesn't have the nerve]

Kelly:
[Smug that she got Brooke fired from her job as student council president] Olaf, it's incredible!

Olaf:
What's incredible?

Kelly:
They found your geography notes.

Olaf:
Who has?

Kelly:
Someone phoned the principal. No one knows who exactly but whoever it was told him where the notes were hidden. So he went to look and there they were.

Olaf:
Where?

Kelly:
In Brooke's locker. And wait it gets even better. Because Brooke's geography paper was based on those notes.

Courtney Simpson:
I can't believe it. You mean?

Kelly:
Brooke got hauled down to the principal's office and now she is in major trouble. They're threatening to suspend her from school. At the very least she's gonna be on academic probation for the rest of the year and that means no extracurricular activities especially ones like running for student council president.

Brooke Morgan:
[horrified about losing her job as student council president] You did this to me.

Kelly:
Excuse me?

Brooke Morgan:
Don't play that game with me. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Kelly:
Gee, Brooke, I'm afraid I don't. Oh, oh, you think I stole Olaf's notes and hid them in your locker after writing your geography paper. I mean does this make any sense? After all, it's your paper, Brooke which means you wrote it, right?

Courtney Simpson:
Is this true? [to Brooke angrily] I tried to like you, Brooke! I really did! I even tried to look up to you! But after this, boy, what a great student president you would have made! [Brooke runs home]

Kelly:
Have you seen her?

Theresa Morgan:
About an hour ago.

Kelly:
How is she doing?

Theresa Morgan:
Really bad.

Kelly:
Good!

Theresa Morgan:
How can you say that, Kelly? I mean, she's totally crushed.

Kelly:
But that's exactly what we wanted, isn't it?

Theresa Morgan:
No! I wanted to teach her a lesson. But you should have seen her. She was almost crying and... [notices Brooke overhearing their whole conversation] Oh my god. Brooke!

Brooke Morgan:
So that's what happened, is it? You helped her plan the whole thing.

Theresa Morgan:
No, I didn't!

Kelly:
True enough. But you knew all about it and you didn't say a word.

Theresa Morgan:
I couldn't stand to see you being so dishonest, Brooke. I used to admire you but then...

Brooke Morgan:
You betrayed me. My little sister and my best friend. Well, so now I know where things stand.

Theresa Morgan:
I only wanted to teach you a lesson. I just...

Brooke Morgan:
Save, your breath, Theresa! I don't discuss things with traitors.

Theresa Morgan:
Brooke.

Brooke Morgan:
Oh, don't you worry about me. This won't keep me down for long and let me tell you something else. I'll pay you back. Whatever it takes, I'll pay both of you back! [runs off]

Kelly:
What's up?

Brooke Morgan:
Oh, nothing. Miss Leddingham just gave me this. It's a note from the principal. He wants me to see him in his office.

Kelly:
What's going on? You think you're in some sort of trouble?

Brooke Morgan:
Of course not! He probably just saw my posters in the hall and he wanted to congratulate me on running for president.

Kelly:
Oh, I see. Sure, that must be it. For a moment there, I was starting to get worried that you might be in some sort of trouble.

Brooke Morgan:
What sort of trouble would I be in?

Kelly:
Oh, none! None at all. It's just a relief to know that you're not. Say hi to Mr. Zimmerman for me. [leaves]

Matt Walker:
Listen, about that little chat we had the other day.

Jake Deosdade:
Yeah?

Matt Walker:
I was wondering if there's anything you would like to take back. Fine, if that's the way you feel.

Jake Deosdade:
I don't suppose you have had a chance to talk to Ashley lately.

Matt Walker:
I tried to call her yesterday as a matter of fact. Didn't get very far.

Jake Deosdade:
Yeah?

Matt Walker:
She didn't want to talk. Not to me anyway.

Jake Deosdade:
She doesn't really want to talk to anyone else either. She's really torn up. So tell me something, start of interest, does that bother you? I mean, do you even care?

Matt Walker:
Yeah, of course I care.

Jake Deosdade:
Then, why don't you do something about it?

Matt Walker:
Like what?

Jake Deosdade:
You're an intelligent guy, Matt. Figure it out.

Kelly:
Nobody has seen her yet. So it looks like she's staying home again.

Brooke Morgan:
Maybe she's just sick.

Kelly:
Not a chance! She's just hiding in her bedroom. Who knows? Another couple of days of this and she just may drop out of school.

Brooke Morgan:
Want to hear something bizarre? I'm almost starting to feel sorry for her.

Kelly:
You feel sorry for Ashley?

Brooke Morgan:
I said I almost feel sorry for her. Don't worry, I'll get over it. Besides, it's totally her own fault, isn't it? She's the one that cheated on the test. So she doesn't deserve sympathy from us.

Kelly:
Absolutely! Oh, by the way, have you turned in that geography paper in yet?

Brooke Morgan:
This afternoon.

Kelly:
It's a pretty good paper, isn't it? Worth every cent you paid for.

Brooke Morgan:
Forget the paper. Let's just see the posters.

Kelly:
What do you think?

Brooke Morgan:
I guess it will do. Well, what are you waiting for? Start putting them up.

Kelly:
Absolutely, Brooke! Right away!

Jake Deosdade:
Oh, hi!

Courtney Simpson:
Hi!

Jake Deosdade:
Have you seen Ashley?

Courtney Simpson:
Yesterday for a few minutes. She didn't really feel like talking. I'm getting worried about her.

Jake Deosdade:
Yeah, me too. So, how about you? How are you doing?

Courtney Simpson:
OK I guess. Not bad. Well, actually, I feel almost guilty about saying this when everything is going so bad for Ashley but something kind of nice happened to me this morning.

Jake Deosdade:
Yeah?

Courtney Simpson:
The drama teacher wanted to talk to me. The class is entering a drama play in the festival and he asked if I wanted to write it.

Jake Deosdade:
Hey! Sounds great.

Courtney Simpson:
Could be kind of fun.

Jake Deosdade:
No! It's excellent. So, do you have any ideas? What's it gonna be about?

Courtney Simpson:
Maybe, maybe it will be about some stupid girl who acts like a complete jerk to a real good friend for no reason at all. Jake, look, I'm real sorry for what I said, for the way I acted.

Jake Deosdade:
No, don't be sorry. It was my fault. I was the one who...

Courtney Simpson:
No! It wasn't your fault and I can't believe I acted that way. I guess I was just kind of upset. So, do you think we can still be friends?

Jake Deosdade:
Yeah! I'd like that a lot. But listen, since we're friends again and since you're gonna be writing a play, I was just wondering, Shakespeare in the park is going on next weekend. So maybe, you know.

Courtney Simpson:
Are you asking me if I'd like to go to the play with you?

Jake Deosdade:
Oh, yeah, yeah, basically.

Courtney Simpson:
Sounds great.

Matt Walker:
Jake? Just in case you're interested, I saw her.

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley?

Matt Walker:
Yeah! I went over to her place at lunch. We talked for a couple of minutes.

Jake Deosdade:
What did she say?

Matt Walker:
Not much! Mainly, she just wanted me to leave. So, I did.

Jake Deosdade:
How is she?

Matt Walker:
Not so good. Not so good at all. Really bad.

Jake Deosdade:
Maybe, I don't know, maybe she just needs a little more time. Is she coming to school tomorrow?

Matt Walker:
I don't think so.

Jake Deosdade:
Then, when is she coming back?

Matt Walker:
I don't know and neither does she. Maybe not at all.

Jake Deosdade:
Oh, come on. I mean she can't just stay away forever.

Matt Walker:
That's what her parents want.

Jake Deosdade:
What?

Matt Walker:
They're talking about pulling her out of Hillside and sending her to a private school. They think her friends are a bad influence on her.

Jake Deosdade:
You're kidding.

Matt Walker:
Nope! It looks like Ashley agrees with them. She doesn't want to come back here either.

Jake Deosdade:
But listen, what are we gonna do?

Matt Walker:
I don't know, Jake. I really don't. Because I'm not sure how much longer I'm gonna be around either.

Jake Deosdade:
What is that supposed to mean?

Matt Walker:
It turns out that you and Ashley weren't the only ones who knew I was doing a little drinking. My parents found a bottle in my closet.

Jake Deosdade:
You're kidding.

Matt Walker:
They're freaking out. It all blew up last night. They actually think I should spend some time in one of those centers. The ones for teenagers with substance abuse problems.

Jake Deosdade:
Matt.

Matt Walker:
A guy has a few drinks on Friday night and what happens? His parents turn around and... It's hilarious, isn't it? You stand here and you watch the world start falling apart. I mean... [runs off]

Jake Deosdade:
[runs after Matt] Matt, wait!

Kelly:
Jake, you won't believe this.

Jake Deosdade:
Will you just get out of my way?

Olaf:
Good morning, Jake.

Jake Deosdade:
Hi!

Cyndi:
Hey, you don't look so hot.

Jake Deosdade:
I don't feel so hot.

Cyndi:
Is something wrong?

Jake Deosdade:
Oh, lots of things are wrong. The O-Zone layer is breaking down. The rainforests are disappearing.

Cyndi:
Anything else?

Jake Deosdade:
Ashley.

Cyndi:
Yeah! She wasn't at school yesterday.

Jake Deosdade:
And I don't think she's coming today. Since she got caught cheating on that math test, she can't bring herself to face anybody. Yesterday morning, she pretended to leave for school but as soon as her parents left for work, she went back home and stayed there.

Cyndi:
That doesn't sound so good.

Jake Deosdade:
I'm starting to worry she's having some kind of a breakdown. That stuff with the test and all that garbage she's going through with Matt. It's like the wheels are falling off.

Cyndi:
So, what do you think she's gonna do?

Jake Deosdade:
I don't know. But look, I'd really appreciate it if you didn't spread this around.

Cyndi:
No! Don't worry about it.

[to Olaf when he gives her a bite of his candy bar]

Cyndi:
Oh, thanks.

Jake Deosdade:
So, hey, did you ever find your research notes?

Olaf:
For my geography paper? No!

Jake Deosdade:
That's really lousy. All that work.

Olaf:
Yeah! 2 weeks of research. Poof! I told my mother. She patted me on the head and said poor Olaf. I told my father and he said, you idiot, why did you lose them in the first place?

Brooke Morgan:
Do you have to keep spying on me like that?

Theresa Morgan:
I wasn't spying.

Brooke Morgan:
Regular people knock and say hi. Spies lurk. You were lurking.

Theresa Morgan:
I was not. Is that your geography paper?

Brooke Morgan:
All 12 pages.

Theresa Morgan:
Must have been a lot of work for Kelly's sister.

Brooke Morgan:
Oh, yes! I'm sure it was. You're gonna keep your mouth shut, aren't you?

Theresa Morgan:
I always do, don't I?

Brooke Morgan:
Well, today is the day. The official announcement that I am running for student council president.

Theresa Morgan:
Sounds exciting.

Brooke Morgan:
Oh, I think so. You wouldn't of course.

Theresa Morgan:
Congratulations! Good luck.

Brooke Morgan:
You don't mean a word of that. So why say it? I mean what's the point in being a hypocrite?

Theresa Morgan:
I don't know. Maybe it's just a habit I picked up from you.

Cyndi:
All right, lets do it. [she, Billy, Dylan and an unknown guy perform their random band while the end credits roll]

[Billy, Dylan, Cyndi and an unknown guy practicing performing a rock band and they sound awful]

Billy Simpson:
So, what do you think?

Cyndi:
I think we sound a lot like Springsteen.

Billy Simpson:
Yeah?

Cyndi:
Percy Springsteen. Works down at the 7 Eleven. Can't play a note.

Dylan Blackwell:
What the heck? We'll get better.

Cyndi:
Well, we sure can't get any worse. Come on.
