So how's life in the suburbs?

Nikita:
Normal.

Walter:
Oh yeah, we all remember normal.

Michael:

Madeline:
The doctors say you're going to live, that's the bad news. There is no good news.

Madeline:
There's been entirely too much externalizing of emotion lately.

Madeline:

Madeline:
The world outside these walls is an illusion; it's not really there for us. We're ghosts.

Nikita:

Walter:

Birkoff:
He won't put up much of a fight, most of these scientists are pretty lame. I'm an exception.

Rene:
You once said a person defines themselves by what they are willing to die for. I will die for a belief and you will die because you have none.

George:
Adrian is very dear to me; if I discover any harm has come to her and that Section One has played even a minor role, I will crush you both figuratively and literally.

Walter:
What you looking at, Sugar?

Nikita:

Walter:
Keep talking like that and I'll forget how old I am.

Michael Samuelle:
You still believe in free will? In here there's no such thing.

[Walter, Nikita and O'Brien are leaving the cemetery]

Marco O'Brien:
Hey Walter, were you ever in Spec Ops?

Walter:
Was in it for six months.

Marco O'Brien:
If you were going to stake out this place, where would you be?

Walter:
Behind the hedge, six o'clock.

Marco O'Brien:
Yeah, that sounds about right. [turns and shoots into the hedge - an operative falls down dead]

Nikita:
I don't want special favors.

Michael:
Would you prefer to be dead?

[Birkoff made love to the "fake" Nikita, and is talking to the real Nikita]

Birkoff:
Uh, Nikita? Did I make a complete idiot out of myself?

Nikita:
No, I don't think so. From what I saw you looked pretty delicious.

Walter:
(To Birkoff) Don't talk to me like that! I've been studying these things since before you were in short pants, and that wasn't long ago.

Nikita:
I'm not a killer.

Michael:
The moment I believe that, Nikita, you'll be canceled.

Birkoff:
I can't go out there knowing I'm going to die.

[Nikita pulls out her gun, and points it at Birkoff's forehead]

Nikita:
Boom. You just did.

Birkoff:
[crying] I'm just so scared.

Nikita:
Birkoff, you've got it backwards. It's not death you have to be afraid of, that's the easy part. It's life that you have to worry about.

Walter:
Fear of failure is the only thing that keeps us alive in this place.

Michael:
When I was in there and things started to get bad I thought I was gonna break, but I didn't. I thought of you. You're the only one of us who still has a soul. I'm so sorry, Nikita. We'll never leave this place alive. I don't know what love is anymore... but the only part of me that's not dead is you.

Operations:
I always thought I'd regret the things I've done. Instead, I regret the things I didn't do.

Madeline:
The pain is bad enough. Don't go poetic on me.

Nikita:
Up yours, Birkoff

Birkoff:
Anytime, Babe, my number's in the book!

Madeline:
Go back inside. Tell your colleagues to do the possible. Then the impossible and then the unthinkable, until he's out of danger. Because when you're finished, Doctor, that room will contain either four living men or four corpses. Do you understand?

Madeline:

Michael:

Nikita:
Section sent you?

Michael:
Yes, but they don't control me.

Birkoff:
There's no more right or wrong with Michael anymore, Nikita. He's the new Operations. He can do anything.

Nikita:
Don't worry Birkoff. You're still my favorite overachiever.

Nikita:
What is this all about?

Adrian:
What it's always been about, a small matter of saving the world.

[the female Torture Twin is standing beside a stairway drinking coffee, and talking to her partner, who handles a device]

Devo #1:
I didn't expect that last one to lose his hair. It must have been the extra sodium.

Operations:
Human nature doesn't change Nikita. The Dark Ages were a thousand years of chaos, war, famine and disease; you think that won't happen again because we have computers, and jet planes and cellular phones? Think again.

Nikita:
Operations, is that what it's about, controlling the world?

Operations:
We will control whatever we have to, to prevent the Dark Ages from descending again on the human race.

Madeline:
Are the crimes we've committed worse than the crimes we've prevented? And the people we've brought down, is the world a better place without them?

Nikita:
Yes it is.

Madeline:
Then you have your answer.

Nikita:
Does the Section ever test its operatives? Tempt them, for example?

Walter:
You've got to think of the Section as a living organism, and like any living organism, it will do whatever it has to survive. Be careful.

Michael Samuelle:
It's best to be ruthless, but if you're not, it's essential to appear that way.

Nikita:
Is that your secret Michael, that you only appear to be ruthless?

Nikita:
Walter, sometimes I don't know if you're incredibly wise or just full of crap.

Walter:
Yeah. I have the same problem myself.

Operations:
This is not a scout trip Nikita, there are no merit badges for fair play.

Operations:
When I was a boy, my father and I were hunters. We had two retrievers. Good dogs, very fond of each other. Being close kept them content and efficient, but occasionally it interfered with the hunt.

Madeline:
How did you deal with it?

Operations:
A system of rewards and punishments, as with any living creature.

Madeline:
Did it work?

Operations:
For a while. Eventually, we had to put one of them to sleep.

Operations:
You of all people aren't going to warn me against playing God?

Madeline:
No. Provided we do a decent job of it. God doesn't make clumsy mistakes.

Operations:
Nonsense. Scientists say 90% of the species ever created on this planet are now extinct. That's a ten percent success rate. Ours are much higher than that. End of discussion.

Errol Sparks:
You don't even care what we do in here, do you Siobhan? God help us if the other side has more candy.

Nikita:
I'd rather die than go back now.

Michael:
Don't say that.

Nikita:
Why?

Michael:
Because I can't live without you.

Steven Wolfe:

Michael:

Walter, you're a sixty year old teenager.

Errol Sparks:
[to Nikita posing as JB] One more question JB, what kind of music do you like?

Nikita:
[after long pause] I don't listen to music.

Errol Sparks:
Why not?

Nikita:
Music evokes emotion.

Errol Sparks:
Emotion spawns genius.
