[Specialist Stone recounts her rape]

Major Stone:
I was riding with my commanding officer. We were preparing the Sava bridge construction. We arrived at the river and saw a farm nearby. My commanding officer said we should go down and take a look at it. So I walked into the barn and... before I know it, my commanding officer had pushed me down from behind.

[beat]

Nurse:
Well, a lot of girls try to sleep with there commanding officers out here.

Major Stone:
[getting angry] That is not what happened!

Annie:
Today, a disturbing video showing the brutal rape of a army servicewoman was released onto the web by an anonymous source. The victim's identity has been verified. Once again, leaked material has surfaced and hopefully forced the armed services to, once and for all, wrestle with an issue that simply will not go away.

Michaela:
[quoting] Ours is not to question why, ours is but to do or die.

Lauren:
It's do and die.

Michaela:
No, it's do or die.

Lauren:
It's do and die.

[beat]

Michaela:
Well, that sucks.

Lauren:
Yeah, you left out the funny parts.

[after her rape, Lauren limps into the medical ward, desperate for help]

Lauren:
Medic!

Kendra:
[Kendra enters] I'm Lieutenant Kendra Adams. How can I help you?

Lauren:
I'm Staff Sergeant Lauren Weil, and I need a doctor.

Kendra:
[ignoring Lauren's obvious need for immediate attention] Then you're gonna have to wait or come back.

Lauren:
Ma'am, my grandfather was in Vietnam. And when my daddy would sit on his knee and asked him,'Daddy what did you do in the war?', he would say 'Son, you don't wanna know.' And my Dad, he was in Gulf War I. When he would come home, I would sit on his knee and I would say, 'Daddy what did you do in the war?' And he would look at me and say, 'Lauren, you don't wanna know.' And the thing is when they said that, they weren't making me choose between what was true and what I loved. They were keeping it simple. So when I go home and sit my baby girl on my knee, and she looks up at me with her big, beautiful, brown eyes, and she says 'Mommy, what did you do in the war?', I'm gonna look at her and say 'Baby, I did right.' I did right!

Major Stone:
Whatever happened or did not happen on the night of the incident may have been regrettable, but I do not need to remind you that ours is an imperfect world. Incidents happen.

Lauren:
Ma'am, it was more than incidental.

Major Stone:
It was an occurance. It is fair to call it an incident.

Lauren:
Major, is there some reason that you can't use the word 'rape'?

[beat]

Major Stone:
That... is an emotive word, Sergeant.

Lauren:
I embrace the suck.

Masters:
You didn't take your weapon.

Lauren:
The night of the assault?

Masters:
No. To your first communion. [Weil has a what-the-f*** look on her face]

Masters:
[chuckles] Yes. The night of the assault.

[Lauren explains that she's been trying to help Martinez by telling him to talk to someone about his drinking and PTSD]

Masters:
Are you suggesting that the military is in dereliction of caring for it's own?

Lauren:
I am five generations of soldier. I married a soldier. All I ever wanted to do was to fight for my country and to defend our freedoms. The United States Army is the single greatest institution in the history of the world. I believe in my unit and in my chain of command. And I know that the army will go after perpetrators because we go after bad guys. It's that simple.

[Masters chuckles and rolls her eyes as if to imply that Lauren is an idiot]

Masters:
Nothing is that simple.
