Legend of the Seeker

Richard Cypher:
Zed, what I did...

Zeddicus Zul Zorander:
That wasn't you. Man doesn't possess the power of Orden so much as the power of Orden possesses the man.

Richard Cypher:
No, it was me. I felt that anger, that hatred. I still do.

Zeddicus Zul Zorander:
If you didn't, you'd be a statue, not a man. We all have dark desires, yearnings for vengeance; and you must remember how those feelings stirred your blood... because what marks the line between good and evil is the choice not to act on them.

Denna:
I deserve my punishment and more. Release me and I'll show you such pleasure that all will be forgiven...

[Denna lays out plans for Jennsen to break into the People's palaces and get the 2 Boxes of Orden. As Denna speaks, we see Jennsen carry out those plans]

Denna:
The People's palace is surrounded by a tree line that acts as a magical barrier. Only those who have been spelled by Rahl's sorcerers can pass in and out of the barrier without being instantly killed by it. Richard will have to wait for you on the other side. There will be alarms, but you won't set them off. Just make sure the archers patrolling the battlements don't see you. They shoot on sight. There's a secret entrance on the south end of the palace that leads to an escape tunnel. As Lord Rahl's personal bodyguards, only the Mord'Sith know of its existence. You'll see the opening. But make sure no one is watching you. Because what they will see is someone walking through a solid wall. Follow the tunnel to the staircase. At the top is an archway guarded by a lone sentry. He passes every 90 seconds. Wait until he goes by and then run straight ahead to the entrance to Rahl's ceremonial chamber. Rahl trusts no one, so there are no living guards watching over the chamber itself. It's protected only by magic. The final magical shield, the one closest to the boxes, allows only Rahl himself to get through. Of course, you're the exception. But be very careful. Even if you make it past all the shields and guards, Darken Rahl has an uncanny ability to sense when things are awry.

Sister Nicci:
Life is fleeting, death is eternal.

Sister Nicci:
What would you do with a horse whose leg was broken? You'd put it out of its misery. This world is like a lame horse. Helping people only prolongs their suffering.

[Last lines]

Kahlan Amnell:
We should get going soon.

Richard Cypher:
Aww, come on. What's the hurry?

Kahlan Amnell:
Well, if you're going to need to rescue every damsel in distress, there's no time to waste.

Richard Cypher:
I'd never even heard of the D'Harans until they killed my father. And I have another brother back in Hartland; Michael. I love him. But the D'Harans turned him against me. So now I know exactly what they're capable of and I know that giving in won't stop them.

Brigid:
He speaks the truth! I think we've all seen that Darken Rahl will do anything to bring peace to the midlands. What was Lord Rahl to do? Face the seeker as a grown man who could defend himself and carry out the prophecy? No. He had to kill our children! The seeker stood up to the patrols this morning. He saved that girl's life! No one else has had the courage to do that! If we betray the seeker because we are afraid, then the children of Brennidon died for nothing! I'm the one you're looking for! I am the seeker's mother! But I will never help you find him.

Sister Verna:
I've gotten to know you, Richard. You would never leave innocent women at the mercy of a monster.

Richard Cypher:
I'd hardly call the Sisters of the Light innocent women. You've lied to me, held me captive and separated me from the people I love most in the world. But worst of all, you've used your piety as an excuse to take away my freedom.

Sister Verna:
Everything I've done I've done with the best intentions.

Richard Cypher:
I don't need training to tell you Wizard's Second Rule: "The greatest harm can result from the best intentions."

[Last lines]

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Kahlan.

Leo:
Cara.

Kahlan Amnell:
What are you two doing here?

Leo:
We were heading south but then the compass suddenly changed direction. And it lead us here.

Kahlan Amnell:
If the compass lead you to us and we're traveling towards Richard, then... the compass must be guiding us all back to him.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
[speaking of Richard Cypher] Mord'Sith will torture him within an inch of his life, and when they're done, he'll do whatever they command.

Denna:
I do enjoy a challenge. Shall we begin?

Chase Brandstone:
So you're supposed to kill this Darken Rahl?

Richard Cypher:
They say it's my destiny.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Lesson number 1, sometimes to gain ground you need to slow down.

Richard Cypher:
That doesn't make sense.

Kahlan Amnell:
Never expect sense from a wizard.

Chase Brandstone:
If I believed in fairy tales, I'd say I just saw my friend Richard Cypher slay a dragon!

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Wizard's First Rule: People will believe a lie because they want it to be true or because they're afraid it MIGHT be true.

[Richard is holding a knife to Michael's neck]

Michael Cypher:
Richard, you wouldn't kill your own brother.

Richard Cypher:
I seem to remember you telling me we weren't brothers right after you accused me of killing Dad.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
The boy doesn't need a healer. He just needs a little time. I only wish I had the powers you dreamt up for me. But I do know a few little healing tricks, and one of them is that there's no cure for the frightening grip of a nightmare like telling it to a friendly listener. And there's no one friendlier than Clara. So tell us, did you take up this sword? Did you defeat this dastardly Ranssyn Fane?

Renn:
[about Kahlan] Why don't you tell her how you feel?

Richard Cypher:
It's complicated. You'll understand when you're an adult some day.

Renn:
It's not complicated. You're afraid she doesn't feel the same. But you don't need to be afraid. She feels the same.

[Kahlan wakes]

Ashgar:
When I stand before Darken Rahl tomorrow, I will tell him that I took it upon myself to flay the traitor alive, tied to a pole at the crosswalk, where all the passers-by can watch the crows feast on his eyeballs and learn from his example.

Kahlan Amnell:
[Approaching the Daharan camp] It's not well-guarded. That's lucky.

Richard Cypher:
You know what Zedd says, "A man who trust in luck better have plenty of it".

Kahlan Amnell:
Take me to the seeker.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
[Looking at Richard] He's here.

Kahlan Amnell:
Him? But he's...

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
What? Not good enough? You wanted a Seeker, there he is. If he's not up to your standards, well, that's fine by me. Find yourself another.

Richard Cypher:
[barely awake] Seeker? What are you talking about?

Kahlan Amnell:
You never told him? You were supposed to train him, prepare him. What have you been doing for the past 20 years?

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Letting him catch worms, steal apples, skin his knees, find out what makes his heart beat faster.

Kahlan Amnell:
[outraged] My sister gave her life to make sure that I got here, to make sure that I put the book in the Seeker's hands, and he's catching worms?

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Never knew a great man who didn't have a little dirt under his nails.

Kahlan Amnell:
And while he's getting his nails dirty, did it ever occur to you to give him the slightest inkling that he is the first true Seeker in the last thousand years? He has a destiny.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Who are you to decide a man's destiny?

Kahlan Amnell:
It's not me, it's the prophecy.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Prophecy be damned! I averted the prophecy when I brought him here until you opened up a nice little door in the boundary and said "Right this way to the Seeker, ladies and gentlemen!"

Kahlan Amnell:
So it doesn't matter that Darken Rahl is growing more powerful everyday, that the people in the Midlands are losing their freedom, dying by the thousands?

Richard Cypher:
I'm not who you want me to be! Maybe all those years ago you saved the wrong child.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
No. you are the true seeker. You have a great destiny ahead of you Richard Cypher. If you're willing to accept it.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Richard Cypher, though the road will be long and the outcome unknown, will you undertake this journey?

Richard Cypher:
I will.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Will you leave behind your friends and all that you have known?

Richard Cypher:
I will.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Though, the forces of evil are sworn to bring about your death, still, will you go on?

Richard Cypher:
I will.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
And will you accept the name of the Seeker?

Richard Cypher:
I will.

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Then I, First Wizard Zeddicus Z'ul Zorander so name you. [Zedd points his fingers down at the ground blasting fire. A circle of fire forms around Richard's feet. Richard raises the Sword of Truth and thunder crashes]

Kahlan Amnell:
[after Richard leaves on Zed's horse] He's got the sword and the book!

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Isn't that what you wanted?

Darken Rahl:
The Seeker... he lives.

[Last lines]

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
[reading the journey book] Lord Rahl is sending a message.

Richard Cypher:
What's he saying?

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander:
Four words.

Kahlan Amnell:
"I will find you."

[Last lines]

Richard Cypher:
Love isn't something to fear, Kahlan.

Kahlan Amnell:
For me it is.

[Last lines]

Richard Cypher:
They'll be fine. You said it yourself. Dennee and Finn can't be confessed. So their son's touch will have no effect. He can't be seduced by his own power if he's unable to use it. Once they reach Valeria, there won't be anyone to corrupt him. With no one to corrupt him, they can raise him to be a force for good.

Kahlan Amnell:
But what if we're wrong? What if we've unleashed a horrible evil into the world? What then?

Sister Nicci:
So the great Darken Rahl is just going to wait for his little brother to save the world?

Darken Rahl:
[taking a bath] Oh, waiting's not so bad, as long as one finds amusing ways to while away the time. Why don't you join me? The water's warm.

Sister Nicci:
[gives Darken Rahl an evil smile] Not as warm as it's going to be. [shoots a bolt of lightning, boiling him alive]

[Kahlan sees Cara take a leaf out of Richard's hair]

Kahlan:
What are you two doing?

Richard Cypher:
We're just discussing whether we should go through the mountains or cross the river.

Kahlan:
[to Cara] You had your hands all over him.

Cara:
I was taking a leaf out of his hair.

Kahlan:
I may not have my powers, but I have EYES, Cara. I know what I saw. You can't stand it that Richard and I were together last night.

Cara:
Why would I care?

Kahlan:
Do you think I don't see how you look at him? "I'd die for you, Richard"? "How can I serve you, Richard"? You want him for yourself, you always have. Just admit it!

Richard Cypher:
Kahlan, you are seeing things that aren't there.

Kahlan:
Richard, she has been trying to get her claws into you ever since you rescued her from the Mord'Sith!

Cara:
NO ONE... rescued me.

Richard Cypher:
Cara!

Kahlan:
You think if it weren't for me you'd have him already? Well, you will never have him.

Cara:
If I wanted him I would've had him already. [Before this escalates any further, Richard steps in between Kahlan and Cara]

Richard Cypher:
Kahlan, you're not thinking. Cara hasn't done anything.

Kahlan:
[defensively] Why do you always defend her?

Richard Cypher:
Just calm down.

Kahlan:
You love her, don't you?

Richard Cypher:
Kahlan...

Kahlan:
All right, fine. If you want her, you can have her. I hope you two will be very happy together. [She walks away]
