[Ace knocks Ching to the barroom floor]

Ace Phillips:
I've been wantin' to do that, Mr. Ching Murdock. Hah! I've been wantin' to do that for a long time. Too bad photographers aren't around to catch Mr. Ice Hockey with his face full of splinters.

Martin Kane:
You didn't release those suspects, did you?

Capt. Willis:
Suspects? There are no suspects! I turned loose five indignant citizens ten minutes ago.

Lydia Sloan:
Agnes is rather eccentric about living things, Captain. She enjoys destroying spiders and ants. She pulls off their legs. She had a kitten once - she strangled it.

Sara Sloan:
When Father died, Lydia wanted her room for herself. Well, I returned home first from the funeral; the room has been mine ever since. If I left the house, Lydia would take it from me. She might even destroy my paintings!

Capt. Burke:
What are you trying to do? Make a homicide out of a simple murder?

Capt. Burke:
Don't tell me I've got to match wits with those three batty old dames!

[Captain Ross rescues Kane from the knife-wielding Lydia in a nick of time]

Martin Kane:
What a way to make a living!

Mildred Low:
What do you want at this unearthly hour?

Warren A. Smith:
Well, you see, it's almost eleven o'clock and I thought I could drop you off at the theater. You see, I'm taking a cab uptown to my bank.

Mildred Low:
Oh, that's so sweet of you, Mr. Smith, but I ain't workin' at the Gaiety no more. I dropped my last spangle for them b*obs last night.

Martin Kane:
Uh-oh. He's still at it.

Lt. Grey:
Yeah, him again. He hasn't let that poor girl alone on the whole trip. What's his name anyway?

Martin Kane:
Peter Farnum, but judging the way he was acting aboard ship, I'd say he'd like to be known as "The Sea Wolf".

Martin Kane:
[narrating] It was almost midnight when I caught up with her. I found her sitting on a barstool... and our queen was not wearing her crown, but she was trying a nightcap.

[while visiting Bermuda, Kane and Grey find Sheila dead in her hotel bathtub under suspicious circumstances]

Lt. Grey:
Hey, Marty, maybe there is something here but I'm still on vacation and I only get one a year.

Martin Kane:
Well, far be it for me, pal, to spoil your vacation, so you go fishin'. I'll stick around and see if anything fishy turns up on this end.

Lt. Grey:
Oh, what are you going to use for bait?

Martin Kane:
Oh, with this note, maybe I can bait the local police into a fast autopsy.
